Thanks for all the advice and suggestions above - VERY interesting!!!! I think I might still go for the wood floor, in spite of worries about leaks........anyone got any thoughts on who I could get to lay it for us (we're on Leicester line of Grand Union)????

Would be very interested in people's thoughts on the following: - which is best: carpet, or wood, or something like Karndean/Amtico?" - if we go for wood, how can I find someone really good to lay it for us?? I know our time/DIY skills won't stretch to doing it ourselves, ani I don't like the idea of asking a flooring company that knows nothing about boats to do it? - sounds silly, but how can I get to see examples of these sorts of flooring in real boats - thought of going to look at boats for sale at a brokerage, but that seems a bit naughty as I'm not thinking of buying a new boat....
