  1. Does anyone know where I can obtain fender brackets to hook over my boat's handrails? I dont want a permanently fixed type as I need them to be able to be positioned anywhere along the rail to allow for the shape of the canal bank etc when mooring up. Thanks, Edders

    Anchor

I shall be taking my boat onto the Trent in the near future and will need an anchor. My question is, where is the best place to keep it whilst on the river as I have heard several conflicting views. If it is at the bow, there may not be enought time to get to it before disaster strikes (70ft boat), so would the stern be OK? Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Edders
  4. I cannot see why a second alternator is of little value. Surely having separate alternators for charging the leisure and starter batteries is desirable, especially if you have a reasonable size leisure battery bank. Edders
  5. My 70ft boat has the same engine/gearbox and I always thought it underperformed. I spoke to Keith Crowther who was most helpful and advised I use a 19 x 12 high efficiency prop. The improvement was impressive (although there is a small increase in prop noise). but in my opinion. money well spent.
  6. I have an HP Pavilion laptop and have been successfully using a Vodaphone 3G datacard for the last 8 months. Whilst not always able to get 3G (which is the preferred connection) due to here I am moored, the 57000 kbps is more than adequate for all internet activities if sometimes a little slow. The cost incidentally was £45 per month plus vat with unlimited download! Not had any connection problems as I always have the front doors open or the side hatch ajar. Edders
