  3. Aldi, were doing one the other week, reduced to £10, covered most laptops and came with an extensive range of adaptors. It will also charge ipods and other low voltage equipment. Peter
  4. Thank you, I will see if anymore information is forthcoming.Peter Cheers Bill,
  5. Curious to see if they are as good as they read? 3000i Digital Pure Sine Wave for £400 seems a good price, promises Pure Sine Wave. Would like to know if anyone is running one. Regards Peter
  6. Keith, Very helpful! Thank you Peter
  7. Simon, I use Taybrite, have studied the posts, think I need more practice. Would still welcome advice though. Smoke was coming out through the grill quite early on, plus there was several bits of wood in there as well. Thank you for taking the time to reply. Regards Peter
  8. Happy New Year, Can anyone help me please? I have a Bubble coal burning fire, I'm looking to maintain a steady heat (dont like it too warm) advice sort re settings for starting and then maintaining a nice 'tick over', please. What part does the sliding grill at the top play, it seems to just let smoke exit into the boat, from my 'limited' experiance. Thank you Peter
  9. I've bought some of the foam type strip that is sold to soak up the condensation when it forms, the plan is to somehow stick it to the metal surface, there offering a thermal barrier in the first instance, if that fails it should at least soak it up? Happy Christmas; too one and all! Peter
  10. I have seen them quoted as "Maintaining the charge", which is probably the most accurate description. They will just counter the normal discharge that will occur with time. I used one for many years on the car, which enable it to start on the button. Seasons greetings! Peter Sorry we all seem to have been repling at the sametime!
  11. Bought one/three actually! Cannot work out how it can tell which part of the page I'm looking at, but it can? Top bit of kit! Thank you Peter
  12. Help required, Please. Having read 'Carrie's', blog. She seems to make referance to these controllers not liking being laid down and subsequently needing to be reset. Having laid mine down, it no longer works! Any solutions welcome please? Regards Peter
  13. Thank you, as I thought your figures are half of those that I saw quoted! How long have you been using it? I take it you have not experienced any problems? Regards Peter
  14. Cheers Steve,So much for engines "lasting longer on LPG", I read with interest your figures. I believe the conversion can be bought cheaper. Which would help. It would of been nice to keep petrol off of the boat. The reliabilty issue now has me running scared. Will consider one of the cheaper sine wave genne's maybe?RegardsPeter Cheers,As I said to Steve, you now have me worried re premature wear, which was not what I had previously been led to believe!RegardsPeter
  15. I'm looking at the Honda generator, I recently saw consumption on LPG quoted as 80 hours on a 13kg cylinder. So at 25p an hour, looks very good. Can anyone please give me actual figures from everyday usage? As I dont trust salesman! Thank you Peter

  17. There are some cheap portable 'diesel generators', for sale on ebay. 2kv for around £250 new. Magnetman, what solar setup do you have? Peter
  18. Cheers Dave, This was the maths I needed, maybe I will have to settle for a 'Bow thruster' version! Regards Peter
  19. Anthony, I would just like to say, thank you very much for the information! It was gratefully recieved, as have many other posts on the subject. Regards Peter
  20. This question has troubled me for some time, even more now given the pending cost of fuel! I'm not sure of rpm of prop, or the realistic gearing that could be achieved through cycle gearing, straight onto the shaft? Cannot help thinking, if it were possible it would of been done? Any thoughts welcome :-) Peter
  21. Cheers! Is it walking distance from the boat? :-)
  22. Hi, Being a simple soul! Would be grateful of locations and comments, to help me out, when I set off to cruise the whole network! Regards Peter
  23. No, made from 'Rapeseed Oil, recycled chip fat'. Far from destructive (As I understand it?)
  24. I was originally looking at this as a soloution the problems with the boats heating burners. www.expressbiofuels.co.uk This company sells 'biodiesel', is produced to EN14214 standard, suitable for cars. With no alterations. At 78p/L. Supply may be a problem, the point is the future may be 'Green', as hopefully the goverment may give this full a tax-break at some point in the future!?
