Painting

Primus is now in the paint dock and the paint job is almost completed.   https://www.facebook.com/andrew.watson.501?ref=tn_tnmn#!/photo.php?fbid=10151652247719954&set=a.10151652247349954.1073741828.575184953&type=1&theater     https://www.facebook.com/andrew.watson.501?ref=tn_tnmn#!/photo.php?fbid=10151652249749954&set=a.10151652247349954.1073741828.575184953&type=1&theater   https://www.facebook.com/andrew.watson.501?ref=tn_tnmn#!/photo.php?fbid=10151652261459954&

Back cabin upholstery

The upholstery supplied by JandH trimmings at Ashwood Basin has been delivered.     Bed in down postion:   Looking forward:   Some ballast will be installed in future under back cabin floor but there will still be some storage space left This area, being cool, is a good place to keep beer and fresh food so the opportunity was taken to add a coat of paint so it will be easy to clean.

Bedroom

Looking from the bedroom forward: The door at the bottom left allows access to the rear of the toilet for cassette removal.       Cupboards over the bed.

Shoe rack / storage space under bed

It's a shame to waste any storage opportunity on a boat. Below the bed at the fore end of the calorifier a couple of cubic feet of dead space existed. This is accessible from the wardrobe so a shoe storage rack was built here. The photos show the rack viewed from above, during fitting, and from the wardrobe.

Back cabin range flue

The flue for the back cabin range has been installed in accordance with the latest stove installation rules. This means that rather than carry the load of the flue on the range smoke box it is "hung" from the roof collar. To account for thermal movement a 3mm gap to the smoke box is created at the bottom. the top and bottom of theflue are then sealed with high temp flexible sealant.

Wall reading lights

Wall mounted LED reading lights have been mounted over the bed, in the saloon and over the cross bed in the back cabin.

Plumbing under the bed.

The calorifier is sited under the bed. The pipework under here looks quite "busy" but it is all reasonably accessible and logical.   Of interest in this photo are:   - Valves either side of the Bolin C/H circulation pump to isolate it. Therefore the system does not need draining down should the pump need to come out. I also envisage, when the calorifier is hot, and C/H boiler not in use, using one of these valves to avoid natural convection occuring which would effectively use the boiler

Toilet connected to plumbing and wired in.

The water supply pipe to the Dometic cassette toilet was fitted with an extra, small 1/4 turn shut off valve and the toilet fitted and connected to the water and 12V power suply.   The toilet has an electric valve (12V)to control the flush water (similar to a washing machine). I included the manual shut off valve to give a convenient means of isolating the toilet if the electric valve should ever give trouble. In theory if that valve fails open, the entire (120 gallon) domestic water tank cou

Shelves fitted under the washbasin

Shelves have been made and fitted under the washbasin. To protect the pipes against impact by items put there and stop small objects dropping down the gaps a small upstand has been added in the corners. Of course it made wiggling the shelves into place very tricky.   Now the doors can go on.

Bathroom washbasin plumbed in.

The washbasin which has been sitting in position for a few weeks has now been plumbed in.   As described earlier Hep20 push fit piping has been widely used, usually without problem but here a weep occurred on the cold feed, on the T coupling leading to the short section of pipe, before it rises up in the corner. After replacement of the short pipe section and T coupling it still leaked. I then replaced the short pipe with a piece of copper pipe which successfully cured the leak. This can be

Bathroom tiling completed.

The bathroom tilting has now been completed. This includes the grouting and silicone sealing around the edges.   Since the photo above was taken the shower head has been mounted on the wall and coupled up - although it has subsequently been removed to keep it out of the way.

Tiling and bath installation completed

The tiling in the bathroom has been completed. It has been grouted with Dunlop waterproof and fungicidal grout. All the tiles have stayed up, even the ones under the gunnel which are effectively hanging. A bead of silicone has been applied around the bath and all panel corners where shrinkage or movement is possible in future. The tiles used were 6" white gloss ceramic from Wickes and they only cost £3.99 m2 They were easy to work with and unusually, for ceramic tiles anyway, British made.

Bathroom tiling and plumbing

A bette steel bath has been installed in the short (46") through bathroom toilet.       The walls have been almost completely tiled in white gloss ceramic tiles. The mounting brackets for the tap unit had to be very carefully installed as the tap unit has tight tolerances. The pipework to this tap will be acceessed from within the wardrobe at the other side of the bulkhead.

Drawers under the bed

Large storage drawers have been installed to use the space under the bed as shown:     The three drawers are slightly tapered to avoid jamming when partly open and resting on the floor. Handles are still to be added.   The bed slats have been made and will be fitted later after I have completed work on the hot water pipework also under the bed. They will be quickly removable to allow maintenance access.

Pipework through saloon

The domestic water supply passes through the saloon from the tank and pump at the bow.   The two 22mm copper pipes of the central heating circuit also pass through the saloon.   The photos below show the pipes in the process of being boxed in and the completed run i it's aok casing. The domestic water pipe at the bottom has been insulated.
