  1. If you discuss what you want with a professional boat builder/fitter, of course you can arrange a contract, but unless you put it safe and secure somewhere away from the canal on land, your only other option is a boat yard, and in my opinion the endless juggling of events necessary to run a yard properly, can make the contract less clear than you might imagine, this is as the yard has to remain secure to run your project allong with others. Is it in the water yet, If not, can you find an amenable farmer?
  2. Sorry to read about this sort of behaviour, someone put my friends caravan on the towpath once, while they were at work, so of course, that got a ticket. So after work, obviously, they put it back ...Next day B.W.B. took it anyway, from where it was supposed to be sited! I would suggest putting it back in the canal, but I fear once they,re after your property or £25.00 they,ll just have it, whatever. Probably best just pay up, and have done with it, or better still, buy a pretty spot of land and put it on there! Don't try and dig a hole though, the planners dont like it that way.
  3. Skammers, rip off merchants...! Whatever. Someone once said to me(a buisnessman, who worked their b****x off, and got out) "there's honour amongst theives, but not businessmen" well even the theives are dodgey these days. So basicly theres not alot we can do. Please bear in mind Gary's post. Malarky is also looking for a legal begal, and this is relevant. Before we had healthy competition from people such as him who could do work of equal quality to any yard; unless a new baseplate was needed; on the water! Otherwise, round the back of a farm somewhere. How ? well that's knowing canal boats for you! But of course these methods although substantialy cheeper, due to avoiding expenses such as B.W.B. on the "fleace" and yard costs, sometimes worked out the same due to time factors. Nowdays this competition is nothiing short of anihalated by B.W.B. Envy, jealousy, and fear that people like Malarky are setting the wrong precedent, comes into play. This was certainly competition for the fitters, and builders on the canal, and inspiration. With regards to people like him, "creaming it" casual vandalism and theft of tools, due to haveing to be in two places at once, means that these people actually do not proffit, exept for their entusiasm and progressing the scene useing "necessity is the mother of invention" So all is fair. Persecution from Government agencies like B.W.B. is the last straw, and impossible to handle, for the allready tight financial reasons mentioned, so if you find a solicitor send him a message in his "comments" section.
