A truly fantastic forum !.....We have been lurkers for many months and the information we have gleaned from here has been priceless.
We took delivery of a new 55' cruiser stern from Liverpool Boat Co. in late November and and are pleased to report that ,so far, we have not experienced any problems whatsoever. This is our first boat, though we have hired many times during the summer months.
We decided to stay on the boat for a few nights earlier this month and all was going well until we had two days of extremely cold winds. Despite the Squirrel stove performing magnificently the draughts from the front and rear door vents lowered the internal temperature significantly. The rear bedroom was particularly cold, in fact it could not have been any more windy or cold if we had opened the doors and hatch !!!. We are aware that we must not block the door vents, however is there a way of reducing their over-effectiveness safely particularly as there seems to be ample ventilation from around the doors and hatch ?.....Or is this the trade-off with a cruiser stern ?
Alternatively, perhaps we are just a pair of ' nesh ' whimps !!!!!!!
Cheers,
Steve and Nikki
P.S. There is an electric oil-filled radiator in the bedroom which is of use to neither man nor beast under the prevailing conditions.
