'The Keep' - Castle Street, Guildford. Friday & Saturday, August 21st & 22nd. 8 pm. "Jews Don't Live on Boats!" my dad warned me. 20 years on, I struggle to do just that .... full time ... with zero practical skills ... and a short temper. Before becoming a full time boater, I grew up in NW London (IN A HOUSE), ran a successful comedy club & headlined leading comedy venues across the USA, performing with the likes of Robin Williams & Chris Rock. One day, on a bit of a whim, I bought a boat and started to live on it. I HAD NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY. So what went wrong? In order to share my story, I have spent the past 2 weeks driving my narrowboat out of London, onto the Mighty Thames & down the River Wey where - for 2 nights only - I’ll perform my acclaimed comedy show in the heart of Guildford. I know I could have travelled here in 40 minutes from Waterloo but if PT Barnum could travel around the USA setting up impromptu shows with his circus on a horse, I can do it in the UK with my circus .... on a boat. ‘The Keep’ a lovely space and there are 30 tickets available per show. Please book online if you'd like to come along. http://www.angryboater.com 'The Angry Boater' will happen at The Keep on Castle Street, Guildford on Friday and Saturday, August 21st and 22nd. Showtime is 8 pm (doors 7.45 pm). Tickets are £10.

SAT JULY 25TH – THE FEATHERS, RICKMANSWORTH 6.00 pm – Clean Show. Over 12’s 8.15 pm – Over 18’s SUN JULY 26TH - THE WATERS EDGE, COWLEY, UXBRIDGE 7.30 PM Tickets: http://www.angryboater.com New Video from the Apsley Homecoming Show: http://www.angryboater.com/?page_id=38 SHOW DETAILS: Before becoming The Angry Boater, Joel Sanders grew up in Hillingdon, ran a successful comedy club in Ruislip, headlined leading comedy venues across the USA & lived happily at his flat in Watford. One day, on a bit of a whim, he bought a boat in Uxbridge and moved it up the canal to Hemel Hempstead. HE HAD NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY! So what went wrong? For one weekend only, Joel brings his 5 star rated comedy show back to the area where he spent his formative years (went shopping sometimes). Living the dream or surviving a nightmare? What’s it REALLY like living on a canal boat? Determined from an early age to prove his father wrong (“Jews Don’t Live on Boats”), 20 years on, Joel struggles to do just that …. full time … with zero practical skills … and a short temper. During its 2015 residency in East London, as well as consistently giving the show 5 star ratings, here’s what real audience members said about ‘Angry Boater Live': “Entertainment for boaters, boating curious’ and … simply a good night for anyone who wants to meet diverse & interesting people and have a laugh. Joel connects with the audience, engaging with every single person, before during and after the performance… making this a really personal and memorable experience.” “Great midweek show, very entertaining and a nice informal relaxed atmosphere.” “Amusing anecdotes and life stories – half centred around canal boat living. The Jewish angst added to the eccentricity of it all. Highly recommend for a pleasant evening.” “I was expecting someone really angry and sort of scary. Joel Sanders is a very funny guy with a nice evening of stories to tell…. he chats with his audience but never victimises them.”

Before I first came to London by boat, I heard all kinds of stories from boaters about why they would never come here. I remember one experienced boater warning me, "London is full of desperate people. Half the boaters there will cut your ropes to take your mooring." Ridiculous! It's at least 70 percent. What horror stories about boating in London have you heard?
