Where is safe to moor north of the Harecastle tunnel entrance, my guide states don't moor just before the tunnel due to safety. so where would you suggest as we would like to get through the tunnel in morning , when a booking is not needed Thank you all Eve

Hello. I am new to the forum. We are having a 2 week holiday from Anderton in June and would like to know does the for counties ring trace busy road traffic on the easterly side? and is there a better road free alternative? We have already traveled the llangollen. And other uk canals We are happy with a there and back route if that is best I just don't like continuous traffic noise. Was considering Chester then as far as we can down past Market Drayton. Would that be a more peaceful alternative. We would love to hear your experienced suggestions. Thank you

The Four Counties Ring is a popular Canal ring that takes in the Trent and Mersey, Staffordshire and Worcestershire, Shropshire Union and the Shropshire Union Middlewich Branch Canals. It can take 2 weeks, dependant on your pace to travel 107 miles and go through 94 locks. NOTE: Have been told can be done in a 7-8 days if you rush? If you are planning on doing the Four Counties Ring our map shows all the place in our database on the ring, we are always updating this, So if you want to find a Mooring, Pub and Restaurants as well as location you can purchase Diesel or get a Pump out or full with Water.

I'm planning our holiday on the waterways and struggling to decide between a ten day trip on the Kennett and Avon there and back again, or the South Pennine Ring. We've done a good part of the Oxford Canal, which was wholly beautiful, even didn't mind Banbury. Also did the Four Counties, which was epic and breathtaking in a completely different way, although if I was going to split hairs ever so slightly marred at the beginning when going through the desolation of Eutraria at Stoke. (Note to readers - starve, rather than stopping off at Lindley Farm carvery). My heart is with the SPR but a friend wants the K&A, but we both can be swayed. I like northerners and would like to stumble across Sean Bean and marry him, and alternatively the idea of all those white old ladies in Bath puts me off the K&A a little. I'd heard there are alot of towns on the SPR however, and am wary of a lot of it being like Eutraria. Any thoughts?

Hello. Is this too tall an order ? I'm looking for a boat with two fixed doubles, no singles or dinette options, Also an absolute must is a solid fuel stove/log burner. Four counties ring or anything with a start base near the Midlands. Any info greatly appreciated. I have serious eye strain from staring at plans of narrowboats. Thanks
