'Roving Bridge, Winter's Evening', wonderful photo by Robert Longden.

This is an old photo of Swanley from a few years ago.
Does it matter? Fits the bill, I thought.

Preston Brook.

Indeed.
A better analogy would be buying say an ancientTriumph Spitfire that had it's rotting chassis welded up by some bloke then plastered with underseal, and having the seller claim it was as good as a new one!

Aah....always wondered who bought my old (rotted) Spitfire!

Sorry I disappeared....I was locked out of CWDF for several hours until rescued by Dan who managed to let me back in. (Long story!)
Problem solved! (thanks for the various suggestions)
Having updated to IOS 8.1.2. I hadn't noticed that - on the iPad - that when you now sign in to a website and tap on the 'sign in' box, the keyboard appears and just above the keyboard 'Autofill' appears. Tap on 'Autofill' and your stored details e.g. name/email/password appear in the appropriate boxes.
To be honest I was surpised and a bit concerned that all..and I mean ALL...my sign-in names and passwords were stored on the iPad and that I could access the full list of them relatively easily. I've now deleted all the more 'private' ones.

Greetings and Happy New Year.
I've just updated my iPad to IOS 8.1.2.
Amongst a number irritating changes, by far the most frustrating so far is that none of the apps and sites I use will retain my login details - including CWDF - even though I tick the 'remember my details' box every time. It means I have to do a full login everytime on all the (many) sites where I have an account.
Any advice much appreciated - of the sensible kind rather than 'what do you expect you daft Apple addict - just throw it in the cut' kind (I know what you lot are like! )

Our daughter nearly got caught by this scam, which appears at the top of Gumtree's own 'watch out for these scams' web page.

and forgot to say....., in Towpath Talk Fenny Compton marina are using a photo of Our boat taken by Gillie!
They took it from the internet (Flickr). Gillie put it there with no copy-write so they are breaking no laws, but an acknowledgement would have been polite!
............Dave
Wrong, I'm afraid. Gillie still has the copyright even without an explicit copyright declaration.
Here's the official guidance on digital images, photos and the internet.

If you're in a public place they have the right to photograph you, and you have the right to be as miserable and rude as you like. :-)I am miserable! I dont't mind people taking pictures of the boat if i am not on /in it but i object to becoming part of the phoograph especially without being asked, so now if i see the camera i either put my hand up to my face or, if i am not at the tiller turn my back to the camera! I can be as rude as the photographer.
Worse still is when tourists of certain nationalities try to/touch or get on the boat, this is an absolute no no! I now even grumpier after an expereince on the aqauduct at llangollen where tourists were putting their heads against the window and peering into the boat, now when i expect lots of people i pull the curtains shut, I wouldn't peer through their windows so i expect the same. Though i may sound horrid i believe in manners and unfortunately i see much evidence of these disappearing!
I like my privacy and don't generally "do" social media, as, i have no facebook page i object stongly to appearing on others!
A question to the forum: Are marinas public or private spaces? My instinct is they're private, but could be wrong.

@rasputin. Inside.
@peterboat No he isn't....but our (terrified) Archie is.

Gumtree is rather notorious for selling scams. Care is needed. Our daughter very nearly got seriously scammed by a very good looking property rental advert on Gumtree. Everything seemed legit, until it turned out none of it was, even the enticing photos were pinched from another site.

This is one cat not to be messed with . Locally known as 'The Bruiser' , he's terrified most the cats in the 'hood. Son calls him 'Adolf Kitler'!More like said tom has microchip on order. Simple solution would be to adopt the tom job done.
Still taken via the CCTV software.

Do they do a catflap with a lock on both sides
That's what the upgrade is! They admit it's a design fault, and as our cat flap is still under warranty (they're not cheap) they offer a free upgrade if you have the problem we've got.
-
Yes, sorry. The app is free, but obviously needs an internet connection to work.
BTW, the camera doesn't have to be a phone. Can be a wireless webcam, as long as you can connect it to the t'internet.
-
I've no connection (no pun intended) with the product, but thought this may be of use.
This may seem very sad (ie pathetic) but bear with me.
I'm currently sitting on our boat watching a live feed and also a recorded video of the motion activated activity around our cat flap at home as we try and work out how a rather large, smelly, stray tomcat is getting in through the microchip operated cat flap in our basement. We now have the evidence to go back to the manufacturers to claim our free, upgraded replacement cat flap. The clever bastard is able to pull the flap open with his claws instead of pushing it open...which he can't, thus negating the microchip operated lock.
The camera, focused in the cat flap, is an old Android mobile phone that is connected to our home wifi, and is permanently charging. The app, which I downloaded for free, enables me to watch the live feed on any piece of wifi'd technology. In my case that my iPhone or iPad or Windows laptop. If there's movement the camera records for 30 sec, I receive an email (optional), and the video is stored on all devices so I can log in and watch it at any time.
Given often justified concerns about security, this might be useful on a boat as long as a) you're sufficiently bothered and b.) you are able to maintain a permanent electricity supply for the phone and wifi, and can connect to a wifi system elsewhere. You download one app for the camera, and another for the viewer. It's a bit fiddly to set up (some techie help/knowledge required) but once you've done it and logged in....that's it.
I realise this DOES sound like an advert, so I haven't mentioned the product, but it's free (there's also a paid for upgrade for c.£6) and seems to do 'what it says on the screen'. PM me if you want to know the name. If I get more than c. 12 requests then I'll assume there's a general interest and will publish the name.

Just to say we have a Morco 61E, and very hot showers, with decent pressure as well.

For fire door.
A friend bought us some Trollull Stove Glass cleaners (pads). They work treat.

I used MS PowerPoint to design ours.
I can't find the 'serious' one I did, which is what our boat looks like, but way back there was a 're-painting' thread about 'crazy' designs, and I used the same programme to make these light hearted suggestions.
http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=27543&p=471463
Essentially, took the outline of a boat, and once I'd filled it in with shapes in the right places, I could colour the shapes any way I wanted.
(Will try and find, and post, the 'serious' one)ETA Found it:

It could be 1962. The (pre-) museum isn't in the photo, but everything else is.
http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2279578
Or, most likely, 1960 with the same objects up against the wall of the mill.

Looking at the flowers, I reckon the Daily Mail photo is March/April.

The sticky backed frosted film stuff has worked fine for us., both on the boat and at home.
Comes plain frost, or patterned.
Can always double it if you want complete obscurity, but still have the light.

They're LUMO ECO spotlights. Available several places. They're normally not cheap (c. £15) but I got mine at Midland Chandlers at one of their 20% off Freaky Fridays...and the lights were already on sale.Where do they come from?
Richard
ETA in case anyone's wondering, though you're probably not, the square wooden base is a coaster as I had to have something to cover the large hole for original halogen spotlights.
-
Just replaced some standard 12v 20w halogen LED replacements with these 1w LED spotlights.
Lovely warm, cosy light in the main cabin area

I can't help thinking that the answer to the OP's question is to find a boat for £30k and use the £10k to modify it to suit.
Yep! That's exactly what we did. We saw loads of boats within our budget limit that were perfectly ok....but just not our style. In the end bought one with a good hull and engine. The interior needed a deal of TLC, hence the low'ish price. Kept the few fixtures and fittings we liked, and spent what we'd saved on an interior that we liked.
