I come from a big family where plans set in concrete can mean anything from exactly that to.... 'well, I had no idea it was last weekend, did no-one think to remind me?' I will be watching the thread for clues!!
-
Oh,,, right,,, that is much clearer now.
Errmmm, thanks

I am really looking forward to meeting some of you. Oh, that did not sound very good, it sounded as though there were some I was not looking forward to meeting and of course that is not the case!
I am not sure, despite reading though the thread, where we are going or exactly when. But I will have grasped it all by the time that weekend comes.
I will probably be driving - but I don't mind that.

I will be there. I am so looking forward to meeting people actually in the flesh.

For me, the deceived one, divorce was a journey well worth traveling, if only to retrieve my dignity and self worth. On reflection of a marriage made in hell, I could only blame myself for choosing an inappropriate partner in the first instance. But then, at the age of 22, a man is possibly guided by his testosterone level, rather by his intelligence quota.
It has taken me three attempts to find my soul mate and dare I say, by selecting from an internet social networking site. Although some might say that this choice of dating is somewhat clinical in its approach, it is none the less practical in terms of matching two strangers with similar interests.
The present Mrs Doorman, could not have any further similar life interests than myself. I feel very privileged to have found her!

That is a lovely thing to say ! Long may you remain happy x

There seems to be a lot of this matchmaking about just now. I was in Wiltshire with some friends last week, one of whom always tries to 'fix me up' usually with men who are not remotely my cup of campari. But this time she has found a builder who lives on a boat, sounds slightly more promising (not that I am looking) but it is a pity that he is on the K and A and I have just moved from there! BSP - I had no idea you were a match maker. This thread has made me smile.

I have a JRT. She is small enough to fit well into the space but 'big' enough to make a noise should anyone come onto the boat. She is friendly and happy and adaptable to whatever is going on... a ten mile walk or a day snoozing in front of the stove. She is happy to be part of any plans. A perfect boat dog.

Hello. I have not been around for a week or two and when I come back I see all this newness. I am fine with it and I guess I will get used to it but I have a real problem. I have red x's all over the place. I think they should be pictures. I am not sure what they ought to be, I have tried clicking them, right clicking, swearing and cursing at them but cannot get rid of them or open 'em. Is it my laptop? Is it a teething problem? I will keep trying to find my way round. Jo x

Oh heck. This thread has given me a headache. Maybe the reason I have found people here helpful but sometimes bolshy is because I did not have a lot of money to spend or lose. But I cannot say that I have ever felt that I have been given bad advice deliberately, or at all really. Maybe a lot goes over my head... I have a massively busy life, but I do read most of what goes on here even if I do not always comment. But the OP smacks of someone scorned in one way or another. I am off to lie in a darkened room (not really I am off to cook my dinner)
I am sorry you have had troubles Pirate, I don't know you but I know you must have been through it by the tone of your post. But you do seem to be generalising a bit, lots of people here are good and genuine folk. Anyway, I hope it goes better for you.
Quick edit because I sent by mistake while pushing the dog off my lap

There was talk of a Marina at Billinge near Northwich. Does anyone know if this is going ahead? I know it was turned down once a few years ago.

My pump out has no indicator but over time I have found out how often it needs pumping out before it gets to a level where it 'backs up' after flushing. I have never had anything coming through the vent since the very first time it needed pumping out after I bought her. Just make a rule of pumping out every fortnight or whatever, the thought of it discharging into the cut is not a nice one. Good luck.

The Shady Oak is very close to where I am but I have not been there in years. However, my daughter goes there on and off as do people who moor near me. I have never heard anything dreadful about it. But sometimes you just do not take to a place. As for the toilets ... that is not unusual in a pub but it drives me mad. But the flies, I could not live with the flies. This is a good excuse for me to go and have a pint myself and see what it is like. If anyone else is near there soon just let me know and we can compose a critique!

Congratulations. Be happy x

Oh come on, please let us wait until winter before we start to argue about this again. I mean.... it is still sunny. Have a heart

It's probably safer to use this link that googling Dick Tools
If you drool over tools, the catalogue is free (or online) and is amazing. Lots of unusual Japanese stuff.
Oooohhhh I see...... tools. Ah well

I am so sorry The Watchmaker and Blue string pud, I cannot read or reply to messages and I have tried a million times. I have been here all weekend but could not contact either of you. Sorry.

For the past almost two weeks I have not been able to get my personal messages. This has been a royal pain as a couple of people were interested in a generator I am selling. I can get onto the forum and if this is posted I can post posts !!
I needed to contact a couple of people about the genny and they must think that I am just an ignorant so-and-so.
Can anyone give me a clue, is it settings? Is it the forum? Is it just another thing sent to curse me?????
thanks

Some cyclists are great and I think all of us canal and path users have to live and let live. But the lycra louts who speed on no matter who or what is in their path make my blood boil. Manners, as they say, cost nowt!!

You don't need a tank, there will be lots of fish all around you in the water !

This thread had totally passed me by till tonight and I read the whole thing, pages and pages. Only to find that the OP is as big a twit as he seemed in the first place. I cannot even guess at his motivation. Is it me?

The important thing is - don't panic. Things are rarely as bad as they seem. I am sure everything will be OK when it is dried out. Replacing a few a few sections of floor might be a good thing long-term. You will then have a few sections of removable flooring so you can keep an eye on the bilge and ventilate it if necessary.
*What is an oil extractor*? - An extremely useful bit of kit. It uses vacuum to extract liquids. e.g:
1. The cleanest method of doing an oil change.
2. The best tool for removing water and crud from the bottom of the fuel tank.
3. Sucking up water from bilges after leaks from the water system!!
Thank you. I have had a look at oil extractors now and it is something else I have learned. I appreciate the time people have taken to offer advice and assistance.
