    i've had a hurricane heater fitted to my boat since it was built 4 years ago

    never had any problems with it at all

    although i have no experience of other systems i would say that the hurricane

    is very power hungry

    it can drain your batteries down in a heartbeat

     

    to be honest i much prefer to use the wood burning stove

    Welcome to the forum and thanks for your thoughts While the familes certainly have my sympathy those who perished certainly do not. They set out with total disreguard for the conditions outside and the limitations of their vessel and with no respect whatsoever for those other souls who were duty bound to follow and attempt to rescue them. My morals have nothing whatsoever to do with people wishing to kill themselves but they do extend to them wishing to risk other peoples lives. If they had all been saved i wouldve wished them to have been prosecuted for at least endangering a lifeboat. As it happens the country has been saved an expensive trial. How would you feel if the lifeboat crew had also been lost while trying to rescue them? For the last 22 years ive been putting my life on the line for other people and had a few die on me. Thankfully ive only got a few physical scars and maybe one or two mental It aint funny, it aint sad.......its bloody bloody annoying Am now putting head firmly back up bottom Who is the greater fool? The fool himself or those who follow him?

    carlt and his buddies are nothing more than cyber bullies

    making a mockery of easy tagets the likes of anthony for example

    they all like to virtually club together and once they have singled out their victim

    they go for it all under the guise of 'just taking the piss'

     

    they look for key words

    have you noticed how many of them have used the term 'deity'

    that is their key word on this thread

    i got bollocked for' taking the piss' out of ugly canal boat women

    but the clan can insult anyone they feel like

     

    if the clan are so sure there isnt a god (and they maybe right) cos i dont know

    and if this applies to all faiths

    why dont they go down to their local mosque stand outside and shout some insults

    about how stupid they are for having a belief system

    see how long the 'piss taking' will last then

    I dont need a crutch or comfort blanket and dont follow any religious way of life that is exactly what makes Spiritualism different as you can take it as much or as little as you like as it dose not dictate you live your life in any way unlike other religions.

    As for free thinking do you seriously think I dont think for myself?

    That's actually an excellent idea! Even better I could shove a compressed air line in each ear and blow my eardrums out so's I will never hear again. Then I can post that since you appear to lack the social responsibility needed for responsible dog ownership you should not be allowed to keep one, and the beauty of it is that you won't be offended, 'cos you'll have poked your own eyes out to avoid seeing it! Brilliant!

    I once nearly came to blows with a bloke after asking him to turn his music down. It was stopping me sleeping and I had to walk about a mile up the towpath to find the source! If your dogs annoy or disturb people by excessive barking, that does not mean that dogs will be dogs and people must put up with it, It means the dogs must be quietened or must go. The lowest human on the planet is infinately more important than the greatest dog.

    There was a programme on the telly last night showing a team in Doncaster going around dealing firmly with noise pollution, in my experience they must be an endangered species, where I am they will give you a leaflet telling you your rights and then refuse to support those rights.

    so you rate ian huntley, ian brady etc higher than lassie

    Alot of forward thinking on this thread.

     

    Lots of people are moving to France and other EU countries from the UK due to economic advantages. Unfortunately, they have found in France that they are not covered by the NHS and therefore have to pay for treatment. Other EU countries might change their rules on emigrent Brits as well. This makes living abroad a little less comfortable. So perhaps a less permenant situation would be more conducive than buying a house.

     

    Therefore at some time in the future, a suitable boat that can stand the light chop of the Channel and the Med. would be useful for touring and river living all over the continent.

     

    There is a great deal to explore.

     

    yes that is something that would concern me also

    the french economy has been stagnating for many years now due to outdated work practices

    and self interest groups that seem to run the country

    so a boat that could handle the return journey please gary

    well i was told that he is the only surviving member of the russian royal family that were all shot dead

    by lennin, stalin and some bloke with a big moustache and a glass eye

    he came to this country dressed as a lollipop lady and after years of hard work made it to london where he worked in the city selling derivatives

    all was going well until black monday then the arse dropped out of his world

    and this is how you now find him

    reduced to pikkeing on boats

    so lets not pre judge him he has a tale to tell

    oh by the way if i ever catch him on my boat i will reunite him with his russian ancestors

    Each cost £1200 or so (that's what it said on a telly prog a while ago) so how many thousands of pounds have you retrieved today.

     

    Wonder if we can get a reward for everyone returned........10% fair isn't it.

    no bloods being spilt for christ sake let em get on with it

    and for the record i appreciate both of them on this forum

    chris w is an annoying git but the guy knows his stuff

    and if you ask him a lecckie question he is on the ball

    ok so maybe i wouldnt want to be sat next to him on a coach trip to clacton

    but that got nothing to do with it

    this same bloke has provided free and i mean free advice on this forum

    that would cost a small fortune if you went outside CWDF

    so chris keep on and never lose your edge there are too many grey people in this world

    please believe me it has every bell and whistle you can imagine

    i have a victron this an adverc that and a nobles the other

    i have a central heating unit that could keep a small A+E unit toasty

    12v/230v you name it i got it

    what a waste of money

    if i had my time over again i would have nothing but 12v thingies

    johnny O has got a very valid point

    keep it simple

    if you need and i mean need all this fandangled stuff

    then maybe canal boats are not for you

     

    so both of you

    keep it going stand for what you believe in

    dont be intimidated by the man
