About Me

My wife and I are retired and living at present in South Africa.

We are both English but have spent most of our lives here (over half!)

Our son lives and works in London and our daughter has recently returned here to South Africa with our new grandson, and now Grand-daughter.

We have walked two Caminos in Spain and hope to complete another in the next year or two.

We were both in Private Schooling here in SA and both became Heads before retiring. We still do a bit of private tuition to keep our minds up to scratch (a vain attempt I sometimes think).

Our last narrowboat trip was from Reading to Llangollen which was really good except that the boat couldn't get back past Banbury because of flooding.

Update:

We have now bought a 57' narrowboat and will be using it at various times over the years, all being well. She is called Day Dream. If you see her it may not be us on board since we will allow others to use her when we are not.

In Day Dream we spent a month in 2011 going from Northampton north and then down the Oxford Canal to Oxford and then along the Thames and GU/Regents Canal via Brentford into Paddington Basin and then back up to Northampton. Lovely trip! We now have a 2 month cruise scheduled for Aug Sept in 2012, not sure where we will head but probably Northwards. Update - successful trip up the Grand Union round Birmingham and down the Oxford. All good weather. Then a trip down the Thames - rain started and red boards came up so voyage stopped at Goring.

Next trip scheduled for Aug + Sept 2013 and then again April + May 2014.
