Did you read what Dan has written?
And to the others, I stand for what I said about Dan's comments.
Calling him Dan makes you come across a spotty, glass wearing ginger hair train anorak, I think your find he prefers to be called Daniel.

No your right a steam cleaner is a great asset in an outside environment but in a 8 ft room IMO you will unnecessarily cover everything in shit
-
No it isn't! a steam cleaner is a fabulous tool for the job
Richard
Yep and completely cover ever thing else in an oily greasey watery mixture, lovely

Hot soapy water is just as good and a stiff brush.

I know back in the day boats had a chimney extension but did it also fit into the collar as well to prevent taring on the roof ??
In winter I use a rolled Steel Sheet for my chimney and use the "nicey brassy one" for summer.

I've only ever seen 2, large socket GU windlass with GUCCC stamped onto it.
Darren

What a great collection, have you got any GUCCC issued windlass's.

Well I've never had any problem using washing up liquid and canal water and my boats spotless. I suppose though it all depends on how you use.
Darren

What about a little drop of washing up liquid in a bucket. And why use tap water?? when you could use the stuff that your boat is floating in.

I would imagine it's had a new bottom in 10mm steel with the original sides at a 1/4" steel with 4mm cabin sides and roof.

Done one of our GU tanks, used cork for the gasket, used new boats/washers with gas ptfe tape wrapped around thread and washer. Been fine now for 4 years or so. Sadly both now need removing as both have got pin holes around the bottom.

As a parent would most defentley be standing next to the child whist they were steering I would hazard a guess the conversation went like this ...... Get over this way or get over that way. I very much doubt the child was left to steer a boat on his own while both parents were on either one of the other boats. And if they were I doubt the mum would be yelling bread or cheese at the child while he rounded a bend.

Joe Hollingshead was taught with bread and cheese on the cabin roof as well. Being told to steer to the bread or to the cheese.
Does anyone think these little stories are actually true or are they another one of the great tales that ex boaters tell while sitting in the pub holding court in front of gullible wannabe boatman or women I'm not sexist.

Rodney boaters? When my nan was on the boats she told me that her parents used to call unkept boats dirty bastards.

Yeah a lot of inverted snobbery from the "rat boaters"!
(I heard someone calling a scruffy boat a "ratboat").
Yep your right, it's like they are making a concerted effort to live in and look like shit.

But surely its all about having a clean and well presented boat and the most important thing is having pride in where you live or what you live in. After all people clean the inside so what is wrong in keeping the outside presentable.

So that's how to get a loaded butty around Hawkesbury. Heave hard on a line to the mast and pole like mad
That's a great photograph
Richard
She's washing the roof down not polling.

And let's all wear Daisy's in our hair and play guitar under an old oak tree shall we. People are far too sensitive these days
