  1. once apon a time i went for my usual ins renewal with the same company i had been with for 4 years and by a stroke of luck the ins broker had a thought and checked the small print,,,,,,the policy didn`t cover live aboard boaters ,,,,in effect i had been driving for 4 years with no ins as they wouldn`t have paid out  but they took the premium money off me

  2. thanks for the replies chaps

that link looked spot on for what i want

    steve

one other thing i am struggling with

    i have a sterling procharge 3 outputs

    and a sterling 1800w inverter

battery wise 3 x 110ah leisure and 2 engine batts

all brand new apart from the inverter which came off a canal boat (working)

every few hours or so the inverter alarm comes on saying low voltage and the volts drop to about 9v

the charger then kicks in again and boosts it back up to normal

i was under the impression that the pro charge monitors the batts and charges as necesary

i run sterling.......... he said have it on 2 hours and hung up

never seem to get a lot of joy when i ring them.

    many thanks in advance

After reading the threads about sterling customer service over the years i think you were privileged for them to speak to you at all 201.gif

  3. It is a nice looking cruiser, reminds me of 'Eagle'. But I have single handed, scratch built a garden shed from 4x2's for framing; shiplap 6"x 3/4"; and Stirling board lined, fully insulated, with damp courses, and a fitted solid fuel range, all on a custom made concrete base - all up it cost me £1k in materials. It didn't need a dry dock, steam chest, or any occasional help from anyone - but I would not take on such a wooden boat. Come to that, I'm wondering why I'm still with a boat at all - the shed is no problem! - No mooring fee, no licence, no compulsory insurance, no compliance needed. Think I'll move in . . . (Might have trouble getting it through a lock though).:lol:

And you can get as drunk as you like in it116.gif

  4. Another bloke cut all his fingers off in a saw. The surgeon said they could probably sew them back on..... "Have you brought them with you?"......

"No, I couldn't pick them up".

    Sorry, wrong place.

Ah the old ones are the funniest 89.gif

  5. For this to work as they say, don't you have to be connected to the sensor to create a circuit or have I not grasped the logic.

Also what happends if your wearing gloves.

I think I'll just keep my fingers out of the way.

exactly why my brother chopped his thumb blade caught o glove and dragged his hand in,,dont wear gloves near saw blades

  6. a similar device for my planer thicknesser would have saved a couple of finger tips, and a bansaw blade through the nuckle isnt much fun. but i give my tablesaw and radial arm saw the utmost respect. (im sh~t scared of them) blunt blades caused my accidents (+ a tad of stupidity).

hurts more when the blades are blunt

  7. Baldocks yer man but i think you`ll find that it all depends on who fitted the engine it may not have a water filter/trap at all, chances are if you have 2 filter looking things on your fuel line 1 will be a water trap if it only has one it will just be a fuel filter, which may have a drain screw on the bottom for draining off water/sediment
