If you take a bit of a detour when you get to Kingswood, and head down the GU towards Shrewley, you will find lots of logs alongside the canal as they have been doing tree clearance.
It's about 4.5 miles to the winding hole above Hatton.

Midland Chandlers at Braunston stock various stove glasses. I have bought Villager type C glasses a few times from them. I now keep a spare in stock on the boat as they do seem to crack for no apparent reason.
If yours is an old stove that has been in use for a while, the studs that secure the glass may well break as you try to undo them. On mine I drilled and tapped appropriate holes and use bolts through the door, not pretty but effective.
Remember to get some of the seating tape that goes between the glass and the door, and also the little clips that go below the nuts might be past their best (MC sell both)

Sorry for the delay in replying, saw the post, thought I could find the answer and then forgot about doing anything.
Anyway, it looks like Bill Davies did spend time on the Moselle during his time in Europe. http://www.billybubbles.demon.co.uk/journey/20060825.html gives some details, there may be more on his website.

Motorola Xoom
Icecream
Icream on the new ones I believe
My Xoom regularly comes close to meeting my mooring hammer due to general instability problems, the stock web browser crashes several times a day and the whole device needs rebooting frequently.
Motorola are not particularly good at providing updates, ICS was released to US Xooms in January, nearly every other market is still waiting and there are lots of very unhappy owners see https://forums.motorola.com/hives/1395b5d6b1/summary and https://www.facebook.com/motorolaeurope?filter=2
I don't know if this poor performance is typical of android but I'm hoping that some windows tablets get released soon so that I don't have to sell my soul to Apple.

These are OS grid references. There is a converter at http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?GridConvert which will give you the Landranger grid reference along with other information
-
According to the support page http://www.zoomtel.com/products/4501-4506_device-comp.html#letterH it will support it with the correct firmware

The closest thing to the Definitive Map that is available online is the DCC GIS which if you navigate through* will get you to the attached image, which shows this as a FP
The enquiry form link is http://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/leisure/countryside/access/rights_of_way/enquiries/default.asp which will allow you to report what does sound to be an obstruction to a RoW.
(* - Navigating through council online maps is usually a quite frustrating experience)

Sorry, read it as you wanted to be able to connect both the tablet and the laptop and suggested a solution based on that.
I have no experience of this particular adaptor, though have had one of theirplug in versions, but wonder if a boaters phone co velcro adaptor and antenna would be worth a try http://boatersphone.com/adapters_phones.html might be worth contacting them.

Your best bet is probably to upgrade to a MiFi from 3 http://store.three.co.uk/Mobile_Broadband/MiFi which will sit in the window and allow you to connect any of your devices via wifi. With a lighter plug to usb adaptor it will charge from 12v circuit.
If you are tied into a contract and they suggest silly amounts of money to upgrade, you could go for a Zoom router http://www.maplin.co.uk/zoom-3g-wireless-n-travel-router-351516 which you just plug your existing dongle into to get the same result. 12v adaptor also available.
Either solution will allow multiple devices to connect at the same time. I currently have phone, tablet and laptop connected via my Zoom.

Could it be Railway Bridge 70? http://canalplan.eu/gazetteer/4es4
Rail bridges do have their own numbering system and I have seen plates that could be mistaken for canal bridge plates. Also from the few photos of other bridges I have looked at the plates only seem to show names.
Of course I could be way off as I haven't got that far north yet

I suspect that it is not a problem with the burner, but the thermocouple as holding the button in bypasses the thermocouple and the symtoms you describe are the same as when the thermocouple failed on mine. The closest place that I can think of thatwill probablyhavestockis Pedleys Caravans www.pedleysleisure.co.uk , unless Charity Dock (02476 313122) just up the Coventry can help
Eta: my use ofthermocouple andthe mention of ffd aboverefer to same part

Sounds like http://www.midlandchandlers.co.uk/Products/Engineering/Cooling/EndCaps/EP022.aspx but they have others of slightly different designat http://www.midlandchandlers.co.uk/Products/Engineering/Cooling/EndCaps.aspx

http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe? and a compass has worked well for me for the last few years. Just tell it where you are and it will give a good idea of which transmitters will be of use.
Saving the location of sites on my phone's mapping software makes life even easier in the areas I normally go boating.

A simple guide to recycling seems appropriate at this time
-
http://www.noproblem.org.uk/blog/links/recycling.htm is a good starting point. Most big supermarkets seem to have recycling points, or use the search at http://www.recyclenow.com/ . You can find the postcode of the nearest bridge etc at http://canalplan.eu/

Lyra finds her Baltic lifejacket very comfortable, they seem to fit a lot better than many that I see around. Not the cheapest but very durable.
She inherited it from Katy who was terrified of water as she fell into a swimming pool as a puppy, but loved boating and would try to untie the boat as soon as the engine started.

I keep getting notifications that I've been added to other member's friends lists.
I've nothing against virtual friends, but it seems to happen out of the blue and somehow I think it's happening through some sort of error.
I think I can explain one reason for this, touch screens are becoming more popular and if you happen to touch the "add friend" icon below a users avatar when scrolling it will add the user as a friend without requiring any confirmation. It has happened to me a few times (though adding you just now was deliberate just to check my theory and I have no objection if you wish to delete me)
In my opinion it is pretty poor programming of the forum software.

Managed to replace the ball on mine without taking those nuts off. It will all fit through from above, but I can't remember exactly how I did it (probably blanked the whole unpleasant experience)
I know I removed the old ball in more than one piece, but think that was something to do with "unscrewing" the ball from the shaft. Also think the non shaft pivot end went in first through the hole.
Sorry not to be able to help with the steps more, but I seem to remember that I did follow the instruction sheet that came with the ball.
Whatever you do, try not to drop anything to the bottom of the holding tank.

That doesn't seem entirely consistent with another source that says WRG get an automatic place.
I don't object to "restoration" getting more than one place, but if the WRG doesn't represent "restoration", then what on earth does it represent ?
Alan, my understanding having read the whole report (which could well be wrong, so I would advise everyone to read it all themselves) is that the WRG are being offered a seat on the council this time only as a representative of volunteers, and will not get it in the future as a record of volunteers is to be created and will in the future lead to a vote. Also, I don't think there is a requirement for one of the co-opted members to be connected with restoration, and it will be up to the council, once it exists, to decide where extra experience is needed and seek suitable members.
It was probably a bad idea of mine to quote only a small part of the report, losing the overall context in the process.
-
Of course I believe we still know nothing about the 3 co-opted places.
From Trustees' Progress Report (783kB) linked to from C&RT Timeline
5.10 Co-Options5.10.1 Co-Options exist for Council to select members who will as individuals bring skills,
expertise or outlook, or represent interests and activities that are otherwise absent.
No decisions need to be made at this stage but activities and interests not already
selected include:
Restoration of Waterways
Freight
Youth
5.10.2 The focus of selection for Co-Options is more on the individual and what he or she
may offer rather than organisational interests. Nevertheless, organisations may be
approached to assist identifying individuals with the specified skills, experience or
qualities

You might find http://www.cuct.org.uk/caldon/guide/froghall-tunnel useful as some of the boats that have been through have suplied dimensions. It might be even more useful if people like me actually sent info in. I touched the guide at the last lock, but got through with about 5'2" height and 4'7" width. The worst thing I found was that I couldn't see the front corners of the roof from the steering position, so ended up in the front well deck pushing the boat through by hand. I did lose a little bit of paint from the handrails.
From memory, the tightest point seemed to be near the start, so reversing out wouldn't be too hard.

That's helpful, but it's not what I am getting at. When I am generally browsing (say) the Equipment sub-forum I would like the threads I have contributed to to be identified - perhaps by having their titles in a different colour. I think this would be a very simple addition to the program code.
The threads that you have posted in are identified with a different icon on the left hand side of the page, see viewing topics at http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?app=core&module=help&do=01&HID=26 .
Changing the text colour would need to be something done by IPB http://www.invisionpower.com/products/board/

Tony Blews (who also does the site ranking thing) has Google Earth canal Maps which seems to be exactly what you want, Oxford Canal is at http://www.ukwrs.co.uk/gecm/?p=62

Overhanging trees
in General Boating
Posted · Edited by andy3196
You'll find it a lot better on the Oxford south of Rugby down as far as Braunston as that is the length that they were doing extensive offside tree work on last winter. Hopefully they will have the necessary funds to do from Rugby up to Hawkesbury this coming winter, as there are a few places that could do with it.
Some bits of the Coventry were cut back a few years back, through Polesworth and around Marston Junction, which made a huge difference, meeting an oncoming boat at the Polesworth VM used to be a nightmare.
It's a shame that you didn't go up the Ashby as the whole length was cut back on the offside last winter so is in the best condition (in terms of offside vegetation) that it has been in the 10 years that I have known it. At present there is nowhere where you would be anywhere near branches when passing an oncoming boat.
So tree work does get done, but I suppose how much depends on what other priorities they have in terms of maintenance, there isn't an unlimited budget.
Edited to add: and how could I forget the Grand Union above Hatton, it would have been very unpleasant back in March if the supply of logs wasn't there
