  1. I have the date pencilled in the diary

Sorry, can't help with a venue but if it is somewhere that serves Newky brown for Ange and has chocolate cake as good as that served on the train yesterday you can't go far wrong :)

I'm going to pencil it in too........especially if chocolate cake can be found!

I think the boys are camping in the lake district that weekend, so I'm free.

  2. Phwarr Barry! is it just me what thinks you should be sporting pantaloons- or maybe that should be doubloons & swaggerin' around shouting 'One for all an' all for one!' with that new face fungus ( Is it house trained by the way?) I'd have dragged meself outta me sick bed to see that in the flesh as 'twere!

Headjog ...you were very much missed at the latest banter. Having seen the said face fungus 'in the flesh' I can vouch that it would have been worth the trip! As to whether it is house trained or not I can't say for certain, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it did Barry's washing up before leaving for the banter....

  3. let see, I have a MOTU 828 Mk 2 connected to a yamaha I88X through ADAT. (Fibre). The I88X is connected to a Yamaha 01X 24 track desk with Mlan. This is conencted to two Alesis near field active referance speakers. The radio is connected inputs on the desk along with the Spotify connection from my Iphone in it's dock. So any track any time.

There are also hammond and leslie, a luts of other stuido bits of equipment connected to the desk for when I get boord.

I'm going to get a coffee and then read this again.

  4. :)

    Three.

Someone else counting as well,

I'm actually having a really lovely Christmas ...... but looking forward to not being Mum for a few hours.

Hope you've all had a good one so far

Perhaps we could arrange an unwanted present exchange - everyone bring something with them that they got as a gift but is unsuitable and we can swap - the only slight problem is that I don't think I got anything I did not want :)

Me neither.....I've had lovely presents. Best one is .....train and b&b so I can come to the Xmas banter!

  5. On the subject of lifts -

Not sure of every bodies locations but - If anybody wants a lift from a northerly direction to the banter venue on the 29th and back on the 30th don't hesitate to shout up, I'm coming that way down the M1 from Yorkshire anyway so it wouldn't be much of a hassle to make a detour to pick up - drop off.

    Room for 4.

ETA - this includes any banterees arriving by boat who may need help with car shuffling...

Without looking at a map, I think they built the M1 too far over to the right to be of any use to me. A lovely offer anyway. I hope you get takers.

  6. My husband has made a very nice set of shelves to allow my Panasonic to sit nicely on, I do not know how to load it on here so will put it on the Gallery :-)

that looks very nice......I like the way the shelf is set back to allow the sides to hang over.

  7. When we sold our house and downsized to live on our narrrowboat, there was no way I was going to stash all my cds on board, I bought an ipod and downloaded all my music, gave all the cds to the charity shop and now have 6,821 songs on a very handy piece of technology, i have all my music backed up so no chance of losing any of it...GREAT..we have a radio in the sitting room and a Panasonic SC-HC35DB which is a dab radio/cd/ipod and very slim in design with a good sound.

That looks like a very nice piece of equipment. At the moment I only havea few cds so storage isn't a problem! I do intend getting an ipod eventually, but thought it would make sense to get something that would play my cd's meanwhile, and also play the ipod music, when I eventually move on. I actually have a space which is ideal for a car cd, but haven't completely made my mind up yet.

  8. Is there only one Beauchief? May seem like a stupid question , but I have got these kind of things wrong before.

At the beginning of this thread, I thought.....nah, not going to be many takers that close to Christmas.....but I have watched it grow and grow and am determined not to be the boring one sat at home. I have asked permission and have been told to go (with far too much enthusiasm!)......so ...is there only one Beauchief?

  9. There was a handbell on my boat when I bought it .... I wondered what it was for

Be careful of overuse. Mine came with the boat, and although it worked fine to start with, I think that it is broken. I can still hear it , but nobody else seems to......

One if the most useful things on my boat is the kitchen/butcher type hooks I have hanging at the end of every curtain rail. I use them for all sorts of things that used to float about the floor waiting to be fallen over or trod on.

  10. Some good replies. Whatever I do I want to keep it simple. At the moment I haven't got 12v in the saloon ....except for the lights. I want anything I put in from now on to be 12v. I'm working towards self contained, so that I can eventually cut the umbical cord.

  11. Having managed without any means of playing music, besides an old radio, for the past two years, I think it is about time I remedied the situation. Looking at doing something on a budget, I noticed that car radios/cd players can be picked up quite cheaply, and some will let you plug an ipod in (don't have one but it goes on my xmas wishlist every year!). I did have a mini type music system, but it hasn't worked since it jumped off the shelf. What do other people use to play their music?

  12. It depends who the cabins are for.....I managed to divide a 10ft space into two for my two teenage boys. I have a 50ft boat. I didn't manage a dedicated bedroom for myself though....sofa bed in the saloon. I can dig out photos if they would be any help. I used a 3d plan/model made out of cereal boxes, which unfortunately I don't have anymore as they got sat on.

  13. Seriously.....although I was joking with my previous comment......I really don't understand what the friend function does. As a forum member you can join in any of the discussions, and if you need to speak to someone privately you PM them. Is there something that I am missing?
