  1. Something has turned up which I really SHOULD be doing instead on this particular weekend. So put my name down now please so that I can't change my mind......(I have tried to cut and paste on my phone but it won't have it!) .....are there still berths to be had on Tawny Owl?

  2. Sorry I am not going to be able to help with the locks.......though I think that's not a problem anymore! I made a mad dash to Chester yesterday evening, and am back again tomorrow. Therefore managing to miss the relevant day of travel. If you are still in Chester tomorrow afternoon/evening, I will come and say hello.

  3. Mike.......The moulding on the link you gave would be perfect if I make the curves fit. They look as though they would be expensive though. I am torn between wanted the finish to be as perfect as my poor skills can get it, and doing it as quickly and cheaply as possible because I don't know how long this version of the bedroom will have to last....the last version was only up two years.

  4. Just wondering if anyone knows of a more substantial alternative to the wood veneer type edging that comes in a roll.

I am altering my son's cabin to incorporate a desk. I am reusing some oak ply mdf. The desk will be curved in order to fit with the space. I would like to put an edge on the desk that gives the appearance of more depth.....any ideas?

  5. Had a wonderful, wonderful time and youngest son was "well impressed" by the standard of banter garb.

Now home and the excellent Bazza2 is slowly bringing Tonka back. He has reached the Macclesfield and I am keeping my fingers crossed for blue skies so that he can enjoy my favourite canal. I am glad to say he is keeping himself busy and Tonka who has always worn her front button at a jaunty angle has had a temporary repair......

Wave if you see them passing......I keep telling people it's the friendliest canal!

  6. I'll bring my kit with me

Although I have spliced a loop onto Smelly's mooring line with a swiss army knife and a teaspoon...

I've just done my very first splicing joining two ends of rope together using a taped up potato peeler as a tool. They will not come apart but not as pretty as the one on the youtube video (where a potato peeler was not the tool of choice).

Jan (Not off topic as I am getting ready for my exciting journey....turning left at Kidsgrove...I've also oiled my new poles)

  7. Ignore it, it's a Gurl thing

I'm not wearing a hat unless the boys are too!

Will you want me to pick up eggs or are you bringing them? - and are you bringing a lemon too? :banghead:

Banter hat!!! Brilliant I hope everyone else has got their hats sorted. Are we having an Easter Titfer competition?

    I'll bring them.......and the lemon.

  8. Excellent! I think 14 is a good age to ensure any young person gets a good experience in bantering added to the education! - what is your route? perhaps people can assist with lock wheeling along the way?

Down the Macclesfield, turn left, Trent and Mersey, turn Right......haven't got my map handy....but on to the canal with the extra special banter!

  9. I am absolutely definitely coming by boat but it won't be as leisurely as I had hoped. The boys are camping the weekend before, so I can't set off until the Monday. As I usually take twice as long as anyone else to get anywhere, it will be touch and go! I will have one 14 year old crew member with me...... I hope that's ok? We will probably be desperate for something to eat, that I haven't cooked, when we get there so the buffet is a must. Getting quite excited .... hope we get there on time!
