completely unrelated to your pictures , today I posted in history and heritage regarding a boat moored in mountsorrel in the 50's & 60's that I am trying to trace for the owners ( elderly ) daughter !
NB. Locksdriven owned by Charles & Rita Mason from Barrow Upon Soar . I would be gratefull for any informaton on this boat . According to the current Ms Mason the hull was made from an old torpedo boat.
thank you

I have just had the pleasure of meeting a lady who's family had a boat at Mountsorell during the 1950's and 60's . The boat named Lock's Driven was owned by Charles & Rita Mason , from Barrow upon Soar. Apparently the hull was formed from an old torpedo boat. The current Mrs Mason ( whom referred to her self as an old lady ) I would guess is in her 70's and very elegant would like to know if this boat is still out there anywhere. I have promised to try and help her find out. Any information would be appreciated. This is a very strange meeting as my business is 200 miles away from Barrow ( where as many of you know my boat & heart are ) .
Thanks Alex

I have just acquired a little dog whom I was told is five years old , he is very grey , should I ask a vet to confirm his age before I look at insurance or just hazard a guess he's five . Something tells me he's a bit older.

We too hired from Viking Afloat at Whitchurch when we did the LLang a few years ago. No complaints. Not sure if they still do but at the time they took Tesco Clubcard Vouchers as payment which meant we had a £1000 hire holiday for £250 clubcard vouchers! Sweet
Ange,
I thought only Cynthia took vouchers

We're moored at the top of Barrowford locks for the next week. We're planning to go to the JD Wetherspoons pub The Wallace Hartley in Colne next Tuesday 22nd September to take advantage of their steak night offer which seemed a pretty good deal (can't remember the specifics)
I know it's a school night but wondered if anyone cared to join us for a beer or two....
We'll have the free wifi to fall back on if no one can make it
Sorry Ange, gonna have to take up the wi-fi offer

Is there anything canal-related happening in London this weekend? I will be in the city and (weather permitting) will be walking around the canals so if there is anything on around or near the canals I would like to go.
Other than that are there any boats I should be looking out for? Any members of the forum around Camden or Little Venice?
I have heard there is an ex-L&L boat or two down in London, anyone know where I could see one?
There's always folks to talk to in Camden and Little Venice .
Not canal related but there is the great London River Race this weekend starting in Docklands and ending in Richmond. (Google it I cant do clicky links )

interesting to see that the reply s come in 2 sorts one from men who really do not understand the need for a hairdryer and women that really would like a solution to this most important problem we have been worrying about this for a bit as with 2 of us doing our hair in the morning the battery's would be dead before we set off even if we had an inverter big enough to power one. we thought of a travel dryer which is a little lower on power and also love the idea of the gas hot irons will have to invest in one of them i think. a 12v hairdryer came with the boat though it went straight in the bin
all this to make sure your hair looks fab so that when you stand out the back all day it can get wind swept and wet the joys of boating
Aha that's where I am different it's him that blow drys his hair every day I am the wash 'n' go girl .
