I'll definitely be there (Kate) James might be working, in which case I'll have to come on the train... Any chance of me bunking up on someones couch if that is the case? If we can both make it we'll be kipping in the van.
Looking forward to it! xx

Bit late spotting this as I don't come on here very often any more but I think we're not booked that weekend so hopefully James and I can join you! Would the cider house be up for a motorhome in the car park for the weekend do you think? xxx

http://sarahjasmon.com/compost-toilet/ Link to a composting loo my friends made, works really well! Not stinky either, with no vent (which surprised me!)

Fantastic!
The worst painting experience I've had was when we painted the back room in the house... before all the plaster had totally dried. That meant I spent days with a razor blade scrapeing it all off as so many patches had appeared and started to bubble off the walls.
You have my symapthy.
I bet it looks a lot better than you think, don't forget that as you did it you can see all the flaws, other people wont notice! -
Hiya,
Saw this ARTICAL recently, thought it may help... I believe there is another artical coming in the next issue showing them being made etc... Could be worth a look

Good question, I guess only time will tell... will have to keep reading the blog to see if we get an update!

If anyone's thinking of going over to the composting way this could really help!

Hmmm, going by our garden (in sunny Lancashire) decking gets lethally slippery very quickly... I think you'd end up in the cut pretty quick!

Hi, are you thinking along the lines of using an online school such as Interhigh?
My daughter used them for a while but class sizes got bigger, standards went down and the price was £185 per month!
Thankfully we've gone back to doing home educating ourselves.
If you do want to do it that way I'm sure you can as if you lose internet access then you can still watch the powerpoint teachers presentation (though you've not got the teacher talking and explaining things as you go along.) later when you've got it back...
... to be honest personally we've been happier doing it ourselves again as we're all involved and it helps bring everyone together by learning and interaction.
Best of luck in whatever you decide!

Ahhh, my dear friend who was complaining about his ecofan slowing down was indeed a notorious skin flint!
We definately need to get a fan for our fire (only in a house ) I'll see how flush we're are as we get chillier!
-
Oooh, so does it keep working forever? I'm always being told that folks ecofans are slowing down but this looks great!

Enjoy!

Haha, how cool do those look!
Wonder if Santa'll be able to get one of those down the chimney for me?

There has been lots of flooding throughout Blackburn and Darwen over the last couple of rainy weeks, plenty of shops in Darwen got a drenching and they're not near the cut, the little river Darwen burst it's banks so I'm not suprised that the canal couldn't cope with the amount of rain we've had... I'm just glad we're not still doing groundworks, hoorah for opening a (flood free) shop lol!

Wowzers! well done! we did it last year and I wouldn't fancy doing it alone, very impressed!
I bet you sleep well tonight!
Hope Adlington's looking lovely as you pass by, I do miss it.

Hi, yeah, we can't get to the mounts without lifting out the engine... we also can't move the boat as we can't run the engine without it rtying to leap out of the boat!
They were rubber mounts (now perished to nothingness)
-
Hi guys,
I know I've not been on here for a while but I need your help!
Our engine mountings have perished at the front and dissappeared completely at the back... which means that the engine bounces up and down if we start her up...
So does anyone know of a good mechanic with a mobile jib (is that what they're called?) to lift the engine out for us and remount it? We're at Burscough on the L&L.
Please help!
Thanks xxx
