i think we are going to have to get wind turbines fitted so we dont use the fossil fuel power stations to get electric to propel boats tbh... or the world will be covered in turbines.. either way.. its gonna cost until we can generate our own power onboard without having to use electric stations to recharge.... has said.. during the winter months, solar panels arnt has effective.. but there will always be wind

thats all i want.. dont want to be told 2 years down the line the boat has been banned for not complying with the authorities foot print legislation... thats all on another note... diesel.... does it have to be from a corporate pumping station which charges more than forecourts? or can you take jerry cans to the forecourt to fuel up? im asking these questions mainly to see if, in the future it will be feasible to move from bricks n mortar to a boat.... if the expense is going to be much greater without being able to make changes to expense slightly to save... whats the point really?

its all about making money out of the unscrupulous... no, i have no clue what im speaking of.... but make sure you turn the red light off on your tv on a nightly basis so LV & Tokyo can rest easy others are covering their foot print.... lol

understanding scare mongery is understanding governments... tell me this... every country on the entire planet is being told to go green, switch this off, dont use that.... so tell me why Las Vegas, Tokyo to mention a few are lit up 24/7 without a care....

one of the biggest pollutants in to the ozone is the manufacture of plastics... which asnt been banned... make of that what you will....

i can see marina's being a thing of the past & becoming charging stations for the amount of boats that will be electric to be honest.... will be back to the "rich & famous" only thing....

and all blamed on global warming which we should all pay a high stake for to stay green.... no, its global warming which happens so many millions of years... its a planet in the universe thing.. nothing to do with humans lol

just looking at different options guys... if diesel/petrol engines are going to be banned... its removing the heritage of the canal boat & its enthusiasts... in my opinion anyway. has stated in another thread... the engine (propulsion) & electrics are paramount to anything else to be checked on a very regular basis... will this also mean the doing away with smokeless fuel/wood burners? also having the need to have electric cookers or oven & hobs? electric water heaters for radiator systems? just thinking ahead for when we do get a boat... would all of this be a good idea to consider before buying.. if a lot of it will need swapping out? thoughts guys pls and electric hook up generates cash for the supplier which in turn makes cash in the form of taxes for the government... and that is what it is all about....

i have heard there are already electrically propelled NB's.. is this correct.. or still in the pipeline? would be interesting to find out how the batteries would be recharged...

im waiting for the proposal by the government to have electrically propelled boats.... at the boat owners expense ofc... imagine the royal navy having to get rid of those monsters in the hull & replacing with electric motors lol the batteries required would outweigh the weight of the engines me thinks....

mmm, you've been so helpful up to this point.. i dont get it.. hostility over load? last person to tell me what to do was my sgt major... many years ago there is no "what if" m8.. its gonna happen.... if the thread is boring you.. move on.. simple has.. im here to get ideas.. not be told "leave it alone, you wont cut it" i spent years out in war zones, in shity sand hot spots... i spent many many years stuck in a freaking truck sleeper cab... you do not know my capabilities so please dont tell me not to do anything.. in fact, dont tell anyone not to...
