  1. This morning at Better Boating in Reading was 70p/ ltr before duty.

Similar a couple of weeks ago at Caversham Boat Services on Frys Island, Reading - but their diesel pump was out of action when I passed by last week and they weren't sure whether it would be fixable.

Other prices in this area are much more expensive.

    Many thanks

  2. it was - I was in London... but normally my boat looks locked up and I am in...

are you coming back this way?

Currently at the Trout at Tadpole bridge, will not be coming back your way. Carrying on down the Thames for the rest of the month. Nearest stop could be the Trout Inn at Wolvercote again if there are moorings tommorrow night.

  3. Euryalus was built in Greenock Glasgow, commisioned in 1964.

In 1974 I joined HMS Sheffield that was being completed in Barrow, indeed quite a few Grey Funnel line ships were built in Barrow including big submarines.

I worked on Sheffield in Barrow, I can remember there was an explosion on her during a night shift resulting in a section of the back end being replaced.

Then at the commissioning party at a local hotel the custom I beleive was for the officers to stack their hats one on top of the other berfore dinner.

    These then fell over.

So all in all she was probably laden with bad luck from the start.

  4. Hi,

If you want a lasting seal, follow the method I have set out. Agreed you do get most of the problems with GRP baths, especially the cheap ones.

More expensive, thicker ones are not so prone to flexing and have similar quailities to cast iron baths.

For ease of installation and a satisfactory job, consider one of the better GRP units, but check the thickness of the GRP - there are several grades.

What ever you do make sure that the bath is properly supported on cross members and proctect the surface when working near it, especially when tiling.

It's much easier to use a generous amount of sealant during the installation rather than have perennial problems with leaks after installation.

During inspections of houses I found that many problems with timber defects are found in the bathroom floor, behind the bath panel - the first sign being a collapse of the bath due to failure of the floor due to chronic leaks.

Woodworm is usually prevelant around in the timbers around the WC pan - men are poor shots and never aware of their shortcomings.

    Thanks Leo.

  5. Hope this is the right place for this request, does anyone know how I can get hold of the Artist Will Jones, we need some foxgloves painting on our boat

as someone called it a Heart drug the other day, now I do know that the heart drug digoxin is derived from the digitalis (foxglove plant) so instead of keep explaining

that we are the Foxglove, not that we mind and I know you will ask why we didn't just call it Foxglove, well we wanted to be different,

but when you here people going buy saying things like ooooh thats a heart drug, or ooohh thats poisen,:lol: Well anyway

I saw this boat with some exquisite flowers painted on it and they said the Artist was a Will Jones from around Hanbury Wharf or smewhere

does anyone have a contact number or anything ?

    Thanks very much

  6. Locking fuel and other caps do exist in the same format as the popular deck style fittings-

They are intended for a market where money isn't so much of a concern and I don't think available anywhere direct to the public, however I can probably get them if their was the demand?

If anybody is interested I will get a price for them, fingers crossed it wont be that silly.

Saying that I haven't seen many cheap super yachts about!

Please count me in for one also Gary.

  7. I've never seen the reasoning behind this argument, all the water in the world is at least 100 million years old so replacing your water with new stuff is a bit of a nonsense.. I've never drained a water tank in my life.

Why do we have a sell by date on bottled water? It doesn't make sense does it.
