and thanks for the w = a x v.
I knew I should have paid attention in physics more.
This could be helpful
Current /Amps = Power/Watts divided by Voltage
Power/Watts = Voltage multiplide Current/Amps
Voltage = Power/Watts divided by Current/Amps

I'm about to move onto a live aboard narrow boat with 2 dogs and an African Grey parrot. I've seen. Ots of dogs on boats and heard tales of people with parrots but does anyone actually have a parrot on a boat? Any advice on living with a parrot on board would be gratefully received!

Any news on another pub that closed, The New Inn at Norton Junction.

Is the gland lubricated by water from the weed hatch?
Would minute particals in the water act as an abrasive over time?

the second mouse gets the cheese... but the zombies get the brains.
Yeah, i'm looking for a water purification system, so i can rain water, collect it, and turn it to drinkable water...
Also, if that's not possible i presume the kits mentioned can take your internal tank water, and bring it up to drinkable standard?
Have a look at www.cleantabs.co.uk it might be what you want

aye, but what make, tracer, or other....
Not too bothered on make, as long as it is reliable, and fit for purpose.

which unit do you have mike, I can point you in the direction of a package if you don't already have the controller????
I already have 20A MPPT Controller with led indication only. I would like one with a digital display showing amps into the batteries.
-
Can any of you members point me in the right direction for a 20amp solar panel MPPT digital amp/volts readout display unit?

Morning. We have now made it up to Iffley and are waiting for Osney to come off red boards to go up the sheepwash to Isis. Is there anyone up on the Oxford who could give me an idea of how many boats are waiting come down , please ?, don't really want to get caught up in the rush , we could head for Godstow but have a couple of problems which can be sorted at College Cruisers. Cheers Bunny.
Probably half a dozen waiting to come down.
Looking out of my window now and there is a narrowboat heading towards Osney lock.
I am moored below Folly Bridge waiting to go up, will wait until tomorrow I think. Hopefully Osney to Godstow will be off red boards by then.

Thanks Old Goat.
My last line should read 'That is to say, if I can get off the River Thames.'
I'm heading for the Oxford canal.

Where could I find information, online, about the River Cherwell stream condition for navigating between Shipton Weir Lock and Baker's Lock?
That is to say I can get off the River Thames.
-
Anyone on the Thames near Reading area?
-
The EA also advise;
Caution stream increasingWe advise users of all unpowered boats not to navigate and users of powered boats to find a safe mooring. This is because river flows are likely to strengthen and red boards could be displayed very soon and without warning.
Caution stream decreasingWe advise users of all unpowered boats not to navigate and users of powered boats to navigate with caution.
More info for River Thames if you look at the following link

At Osney Island at the moment, Boats passing up and downstream. Bit of a flow on the river, although navigation should be fine with caution.

We left our mooring at Cropredy at 7:00 pm on Saturday evening (26 May) so that we could moor below Claydon bottom lock and be ready to ascend when the locks became available at 10:00 am the following morning. All that went as planned and this morning we ascended Claydon locks, stopped for a couple of hours at Fenny Marina where we took on fuel and browsed around the chandlery (while Graham cycled back on the Brompton to bring the car up) and we eventually tied up about half way along the summit level between Bridges 130 and 129. So far, we have only gone aground once! The water level is lower than we would like but we can still make reasonable progress. We plan to be in Braunston on Tuesday and arrive at Crick on Wednesday.
So far we have been greeted enthusiastically by several forum members and we are very sorry that it hasn't always been possible to stop and converse . . .
Nice to hear of your progression, after mooring near the 'mast'.
We are currently in Banbury, heading for the river.
Hope to see you on the way back late August.

Thanks for that, missed it first time around.

Thanks for all the recommendations.
I tend to use an extra long gas hose and use the gas supply from the bottle in the gas locker, with the BBQ sited on the towpath.
I have gone for a Weber Q120 with stand. Expensive, but I suppose you get what you pay for. (I got it for £164.05p with discounts, Etc).
Which I believe, will last for years.
Why not just use the cooker on the boat?
Charcoal or open fire is the only way...well for real men that is
Some days in the summer it is just too hot to cook indoors, therefore the towpath BBQ is a cooler option under shade.
-
Stuff of the devil. Barbeques use ccharcoal or wood not gas. Do you mean you want a new outdoor gas cooker ?
Barbeques also use gas, for instant heat, less mess, than ccharcoal or wood.
So what you call an outdoor gas cooker, yes thats what I mean in your terms of interpretation.
So what outdoor gas cooker would you recommend?
Any recommendations welcome.
-
is size important?
Yes, one that would stow away easily and not take up too much room.
-
Getting ready for another years boating and on my list will be a new gas BBQ.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just had my renewal today from Colledge today, happy enough to say same premium as last year!
