      Bottle stoves were open fronted but could be fitted with a steel or brass draw sheet hung by a hook riveted at the top of the curved sheet which completely covered the fire to draw it up. The sheet could be raised by a series of 3/8th inch holes to reduce the draught after lighting. I have a very early bottle stove in good condition, given to me by the late Les Allen of Oldbury.
