We were going to tie up on the Hudson reserved moorings for a few days at Fradley (aka the services) but it transpired there is loads of room between junction and keepers locks (opposite the cafe). In the past we have arrived here at this time of year and found it touch and go whether we would get in. Now its dark, there are still 2 boats lengths free in front of us.
Is the lack of boats down to the weather, the economic downturn, or the increased enforcement of the 48hr limit by CRT?
Have just come up the Cheshire locks, now on the macc at kent green over the last week we have seen no more than 6 boats a day!

Thanks that actually is better than the Albright spares listing
Had a quick search this is from the vetus web site, is this what yours looks like
closest looking one i found from the albright site is this, you would need to check the ratings though. Or go to the downloads and try to find a better match.
http://www.albrightinternational.com/files/downloads/catalogues/DC88.pdf
Thanks for that Yes that is what my contactor looks like! I had just arrived at a similar point with the Albright data just need to double check ratings and configuration.

Albright are next door to my office, if you can take a picture of the existing one I can go and ask.
Ken
Thanks very much Ken If other avenues do not pan out I will contact you
I think that KenK's offer is brilliant (have a greeny Ken!) - and I was going to suggest that if the OP give's Albright a telephone call with the Vetus details they may well be able to identify it for you
That's the next action if no one knows the number !!
-
No but thanks. I have trawled the previous threads Just hoping someone has the part number so that I can download the manual/exploded diag and sort the bits I need!
-
I need to replace the solenoid pack on my Vetus 55Kgf bow thruster, does anyone happen to know what the Albright equivalent part number is? Thanks in advance

I am planning on bringing my water colour kit over in April as both the equipment and any finished works are easy to transport and store.
I have a tabletop easel here and oil and acrylic paints but can foresee problems with mess, odours and spills in such a confined environment.
What are peoples experiences simultaneously handling the various messy artistic media, and the demands of the boat, and a mess averse partner?
Knitting instead?
Don
My OH is a professional artists working in Pastels, Pencil and occasional acrylics and watercolor.
Used to work in oils but stopped that before we moved aboard.
More problems with storage than mess (works in progress, materials and reference material!) Just waiting for a purpose built storage cabinet to arrive.

This will probably do, ok it's 3 metres and comes connected to an aerial but at that price it doesn't matter.
Thanks for that ! I am pursuing this link as a friend is interested in my existing antenna (short cable is fine for his needs) and as well as the one you pointed out they have a higher gain version for about £16.00 with a goodly length of cable so all in all looks like a result.
-
what you need is a SMA extension cable, like this
The connectors different on my cable ! Designation is TS9 and its a simple push fit.
-
Why do you need an extension Charge the unit and move the dongle where ever you want it. We have one of these and providing its fully charged it can go with me including the car. And in the car I can put it on charge there as its connection is a mini usb which is exactly the same as HWMBO phone.
It is the external antenna cable I wish to extend! Currently the unit is hanging in the cratch with the antenna on the roof, hardly ideal
E586 doesn't have an external aerial socket, unless the latest model has been updated but I doubt it.
Very sorry the unit is E586Es It does have a socket! I bought it with Antenna and its currently what I am using to post this! It would just be useful to extend the Antenna cable!
I have looked on the net, checked Maplins just hoped someone might be aware of a specialist supplier!
-
Have just bought the above modem with antenna!
The antenna cable is very short I need to extend, does anyone know of a source of TS9 male to TS9 female extension cables looking for about 2M max.

It's not clear if you are looking for one person to do both things.
Mike Carter is a good BSS examiner in your neck of the woods.

To my surprise, the meeting with CART was quite productive. Peter McDonald took minutes and will produce a small statement of what was discussed. Once he has done that, we will post It on here.
To just basically round it up, CART wish to consult with ccers and move forward with input from us. They made it quite clear that they wish ccers to be involved in any future proposals.
Alan Fincher I am sure will input his views from his side of the fence regarding leisure boaters and 24-48hr moorings.
Cotswoldwoman attended also and was a definite plus on the team. Though he was at some point in the meeting converted to a chugger!
As for Sally Ash, she's a pussycat! Strong views but more than willing to help us work towards some sort of harmony.
The one minus from it all? The coffee was crxp, nice biscuits though
Thanks to Alan and john for attending, very much appreciated.
Thank you for organizing this meeting it sounds a very positive move forward devoid of the paranoia that was starting to dominate!

Need to find a good engineer and a BSS examiner we are winter moored in Elesmere
-
Homefire smokeless was £13 for 25kg at High Line on the Slough Arm. They do sell another brand for £10 - burns hotter but quicker he said. So that and my 5x8 UKHeatLogs should keep warm this winter.
Currently paying £8.70 for 25Kg's Excel delivered to the end of the arm at Ellesmere
edited to remove double post?

Hello, no connections other than I got some free samples and it is ace!
So far I have used it to fix the knob (oo er) on my throtle and the towel rail in my bathroom, it properly sticks after 24 hours and can be moulded into any shape. My mate even made a handle for his favorite broken mug!
Cheers
Amazing! Simple really useful and its British !!!!!!

Oops, thats a slip of the brain and showing my age, and certainly can't blame that one on the spell checker.
Not pedantic at all, its pretty fundamental; in fact I believe it was the commutator that was the limiting factor in dynamamo performance as it limited the maximum speed, and so the main gain with an alternator is the higher speed that can be achieved with slip rings, rather than the move to an "AC" machine.
It is also possible to get a brushless alternator which uses an additional winding to transfer power to the rotor.
I doubt if it is Cox's selling these parts on eBay, I think they charge £50 for the brush set!
............Dave
And will not sell them! My unit is in otherwise good condition so happy after doing the diagnosis checks in the manual and inspecting the brushes that that is the issue!
I have also purchased the other kit against a rainy day!
-
Good point,
I would guess but don't know TBH if the failure results in the boat being immobilised than yes.
Failure of a stand alone domestic alternator though - it sounds as though is not covered any more....perhaps somebody from RCR who might be reading this can advise....(they have responded to posts on here before)
They replaced my domestic alternator last summer under the parts replacement scheme no problem !Result new alternator delivered and fitted £50.00
Their paperwork says in big letter alternators I can find no restriction!
-
I think they are based on a standard/modified Bosch alternator, so shouldn't be too hard to find from an auto electrical repair shop.
I've no idea whether these are the right ones. Might be worth a question to the vendor.
Tim
Thanks Tim Well Spotted

Has anyone sourced brushes for a 3KW travel pack
Thanks in advance
-
yep that,s the beast.
Manual says Invertek but that's not at issue.
what i am interested in is it worth the price qouted to get it repaired?
it would be replacing two working bits of kit
a sterling Quasi sine inverter
a sterling charger
and adding a solar controller!
but i would need the remote as it would be behind our electrics panel
-
Yello,
I have a Sterling 3 in 1 pure sine combi, but I don't know whether it's an Invertek or not ?
Is yours blue with the programming instructions on the outside face and a touch sensitive panel and LED on the top ?
Cheers Malc.
Malc
yes it is a blue case with all the instruction on a large panel and the controls are touch pad!
Any observations would be helpful
Thanks
Tony

I have been given a Sterling (Invertek) 3In1 Combi unit Pure Sine 1500w inverter/solar controller/Charger.
It has a fault, diagnosed as power board (£150.00) to repair.
Has anyone got or had experience of this unit is it worth the repair cost?
Thanks in advance.
Edit Firtek Should be Invertek!

I would be prepared to donate web space and domain name to give any campaign a visible rally point ! Might need someone to write the web site if more than basics required! The Silent majority who obey the CC'ing rules need to be heard !
