Hi all I would apreaciate any advice on this subject I'm looking for liability insurance for my boat shed the club where I'm moored requires it as part of there rules or be asked to leave mooring ? Or sign over shed to them so they can pull it down I use shed to cover boat and do maintainace so I

    would like to keep it hense asking dose any one know wher I can apply for 3 rd party liability insurance

  2. Hi Clairag.

     

    Hate to be a wet blanket but making this trip though not impossible is not easy and can be very expensive. As you have been told, realisically the only way is to find out about any organised trips, there are usually one or two per year, you will find it involves getting 'ship type' very formal marine surveys plus the usual but but more extensive river type navigation and safety aids.

     

    When I did the trip many years ago I initially considered all the red tape tape to be very much 'over the top' but when you are on the canal you soon realise that for one thing there are no towpaths or any kind of facilities for small boats so you are very much on your own. And a bit of a killer those locks which are the size of a football field need to be specially manned by a travelling crew.

     

    I would use the Bridgewater for your trip and keep you ears open for future opportunities on the MSC. See you at Ashton !

     

     

    hi john thanks for your very valid coment i am thinking of going on the trip with msc to look at what to expect this trip wont be the same has taking your own boat. i agree it is expensive all the etra bits that are required at the moment i still would like to give it a try! ill see how it gose.

  3. hi i am hopping to take rowtonmoor from pona locks to the river weaver in the middle two weeks of july i have all the paper work requirements etc.

    i have been told its better to travel in convoy so im just looking to join in someone else trip i can be very flexible about the time we go but it has to be after tameside festival. i would also apreasiate eny travel tips.
