  4. Nottingham City Council do something similar in our marina. A boat advertised and sold in the marina is subject to a %age of the purchase price being paid to the owners of the marina, ie, the City Council. Mind you, this is done on trust, and, well, Council tax went up again, so I don't think they make a lot from 'brokerage' fees!

    Tender!

Oh! thanks Mike & Lee, that's what I did, using an electric blower/sucker. Then, once rolled, put straps around it to tighten it up even more, and shoe-horn it into the bag. Mind you, Carl has inadvertedly given me an idea, although it's a waste of butter, but.....................!

    Tender!

I recently persuaded SWMBO that the next must-have for the boat was a tender with a small outboard. Well, got a nearly-new setup with outboard a few weeks ago, but haven't had time to get it out the bag and blow it up, until today. It's a Plastimo 240, and everything (except engine) fits into a sturdy bag. Got it out, blew it up, sat in it going 'brm, brm' on the lawn, then deflated it and tried to get it back into the bag, and here's where it all started to get a bit challenging. Talk about trying to thread a sausage through the eye of a needle! 'Cos thats what it amounted to. Has anyone any tips on repacking tenders back into their bags? Is there a foolproof method? (Apart from 'Don't get one in the first place')
  8. We will just have to hope that if they are made commercially that they're manufactured from steel rather than stainless steel, as it would be an awful shame not to be able to retrieve them from the cut with a magnet!!!
  9. Nice one, I think you can be sure of that!! I tend to agree with you on that though. I have never bought anything which cost over £2500 new, (except holidays, which are covered by insurance), not just because I couldn't afford it, but, by & large, things like boats, cars, m/bikes, even houses, bought second hand, do tend to have any problems which were caused during manufacture sorted out. Plus buying these articles, with either a bill of sale or a declaration of ownership, does usually guarantee that you get to keep them!!!!

  23. Both Laural and WarriorWoman have the right idea, and the one I was clumsily trying to disport. The Law enforcement agencies, (Police, Revenue&Customs, MOD etc) do welcome any Photographic/Video evidence of any law-breaking, mostly for identification of the wrong-doers so a case can be built against them. However, this evidence cannot be used solely for a conviction unless the guilty party is aware that they are being recorded. Which is why there are so many "Police Speed Camera" signs on the roadside. If you are caught speeding on a road where there is no sign within, I think, 1 mile, of the camera, then you can contest the legality of the photo evidence as you haven't been warned. It is this principle which applies to other acts of illegallity caught on camera, which, I believe, stems from the 'Human Rights Act'. I went into all this a few years ago when I managed to accrue 9 points in 3 weeks on my driving licence. The laws may have altered since then.
