Hello everyone.
I am a complete novice regarding knowledge of canals. During several walks along the Grand Union I have noticed differing dates on locks e.g.
Common Moor lock 1867 & 1874
Lot Mead lock 1878
Batchworth 1866
Stocker’s 1886
Springwell 1892 & 1898
Coppermill 1870 & 1884
Black Jack’s 1870
Widewater 1876
Denham Deep 1851
Would some kind person be able to explain the significance of these dates please as, to me, they don’t appear to tie up with the dates of the building of the canal?
Thank you.

Hello everyone.
Would anyone be able to tell me where nb Mimas is moored at the moment? I am proposing to construct a scale model of her and would like to take some photos of her to aid me in my quest.
Thank you in anticipation,
Will.

Thanks for sharing your memories John.
I’m trying, without much success, to remember where Sabina Villas were in Horton Road. Can you place them for me?
Thanks.

Thank you for your kind remarks.
That’s right Mark, Lupin was moored up at Coppermill Lock. I don’t know if she's still there as I haven’t been up that way lately.

Hi everyone.
As it seems that some of you are interested in narrowboat models I thought you might like to have a look at these. They are both scratch-built from balsa. I am not an experienced modeller, nor am I a boat person, so there are probably many many technical errors.....please excuse! I have very little knowledge of boats apart from strolling along the canal and admiring them. These two were built purely for fun to while away the hours of retirement. Please also excuse the poor photography!
Happy New Year to you all.

I believe that this is true but the land either side of Falling Lane was brickfield and has consequently been dug out causing the level to drop below both Falling Lane and Royal Lane. The old allotments next to the football club were riddled with debris from the brickfields. There was a pub called the Black Bull on Falling Lane at the side of Otter Dock.

Hello everyone. I am interested in finding out about the canal carriers who worked the brickfields of West Drayton/Yiewsley/Stockley/Hayes. It would be great to find any photos/info relating to this if anyone can point me in the right direction. I believe that there is an article in the autumn 2017 edition of Narrowboat Magazine relating to the brickfields around London. Would anyone be kind enough to tell me if this relates to the aforementioned areas? Thank you.

Hi everyone.
When I was a young lad I used to fish at various points along the Grand Junction between Cowley and Stockley. I remember there being lots of docks leading off the canal, e.g. Onslow Mills, Otter dock, Cooper's dock, etc. I have info on these from Faulkner's "Grand Junction Canal" but I was wondering if anyone has any old photos of these docks to enhance my memories, or maybe let me know of any publications containing further info.
Thank you.

Hello everyone,
Just finished a narrowboat model and thought I'd like now to have a go at a model of one of T W Toovey's wide boats. Have found several photos online but, due to perspective problems, I'm having problems working out rough dimensions of these boats. Length and beam are reasonably easy to guesstimate but I'm stuck for other information. Was wondering if one of you kind people would be able to assist in any way, i.e., decent photos, drawings or useful measurements.
Thank you in anticipation.
Will.

Hi all,
Has this thread fizzled out or is this topic being discussed elsewhere?
Just wondered if there is any further current info available, e.g. proposed plans for the site, updates to the list of vessels in the pit, etc.
Had a nosey around there a couple of weeks ago. Everywhere is very overgrown. "Mavis" is still in existence and to the south of her, close to the bank, but under water, are the remains of what I believe to be "Alberta" and "Rose of Tyburn". Please correct me if I'm wrong on the names.
Look forward to hearing any news of updates.
Best regards.
