  1. It's not for everyone. I love the limitations brought on by boating. Power is not a problem unless you make it one. I had a Webasto thermo top fitted from my budget, warm boat and hot water, no problem. When on the cut I have a Honda eu20i if needed to generate more electricity, to be honest, we don't often need it. My constant fear over battery drainage is alleviated somewhat by having a victron gauge. Condensation, just missed out on the de-humidifiers in Lidl so will source one from elsewhere if I get bugged enough to need one.

I am not liveaboard yet but having a boat and using it in the depths of winter wakes you up to cold boat syndrome, next task is a gsm remote webasto switch on unit.

    Just love it!

  2. We had old services removed, a new B and Q shower cubicle, new sink and toilet- latter changed to macerator type from dump through and waste/ rinser pipes moved to the boat roof. Including two new doors and making good/painting this was an extensive job. Done for me, including parts and labour £3,500.

I should add we had the dump through tank removed and a new plastic one fitted under the bed

  3. Opt in is not required by law. The Direct Marketing Association recommend opt in. The law surrounding this is largely contained within the Data Protection Act 1998. In simple terms you must not use information for purposes other than the reasons it was collected for. You should find an opt in or a purposes statement, known as a fair processing notice, somewhere in the guff we get from CRT in relation to use of personal data. Otherwise it should be reasonable in the circumstances, there is an exception in the act about the "vital interests" but this purpose would not fall into that category. Alternatively, they just ignored DPA on the basis no one would complain to the information commissioners office. I don't want the booklet because I have an electronic copy. CRT would be advised to consider its customers needs and a little tick in annual renewals would have given them all they needed to spend our money wisely.

Great publication for those that need it and I commend its refresh.
