  1. Hi can any please help, when changing my fuel pipes on my JS3M

    I have broke the brass round outlet swivel union I think it's called it's were one of the fuel lines attaches onto a 5/16 and I have broken the nut and being a little to Harvey handed when using the spanner .

    My question is does any one know any one that has this part for sale please.

  2. Can any one please help

    When starting and moving. Up the river for about 3 hours or so My oil indicator is reading around 15/20. However whilst I went below to check the engine I notesed the gage was showing 5/7

    I have recently changed the anti freeze to 50/50 and I feel there may be some air in the system

    I have been using the little brass tap on top of the exhaust box which some of the air is coming out.

    Any help or advice would be most appreciated

  3. No it is a JS3M with a blackstone 1:1 gear box from a 1946 fishing boat 1500 revs gives me 45 hp

    I to have electric start which is great ,however i have stated her when the engine is warm but it's very hard from cold.

    That why I have ask if one day I had no power from batts Etc I would like to thing I could start her from cold.

     

    I have a skin tank that holds the antifreeze and what's around the engine .

  4. Not necessarily! The JS was one of the last variants of the JP range...I think it has pressure fed top end lubrication and no compression changeover valves....it's also rated for a higher rpm...possibly 1500 rpm instead of 1200 rpm

    As for starting do you have hand or electric start?.....I take it that it doesn't start that easily from cold?

    Changing the antifreeze is just a matter of draining and or pumping the old stuff out and replacing with a fresh mix....use the blue stuff though not the 5 year pink stuff.

  5. Forgive me asking all of you this question , And this is because am new to it all.

    But my question is what is the best way to start a cold JS3M engine? If I don't ask I will never know from all you experts .

    The other question is I need to change the cooling with anti freeze etc. what is the best method for meto do this.

  6. Hi every one,

    I have a js3m however I have one one fuel filter that protects my fuel system and engine.

    on the filter it show CAV BFA11 and the filter is made of square pieces of felt like material that is acting as the filter,

    When checking the filter I had some diesel bug with I just cleaned away.

    My question is please does any one know or have a fuel system etc the I could replace
