  1. On the wide canals up north you don't have to look for a winding hole.

If we are turning around after being moored I will often just step off the boat with a bow or stern line and let any available flow or the wind turn the boat. It can work on rivers too but don't let go!

It just saves a bit of fuel.

Thats good advice, I may end up doing this if I get stuck I'll just use a barge pole and hopefully I won't fall in the cut

  2. I've only been on the water since last May, It's the way I was shown how to do it by my neighbours is all, but yes, every boat is different, not absolute full lock, you'll feel the "biting point" I guess.

Anyway, i'm hoping to be in Parbold next weekend (8th/9th) if you would like a hand x

Hey Thanks ETS, that would be great, I'll see if the wkend 8/9th will be okay (not sure if I'm at work, I just requested a change in hrs due to my Mum currently in hosp)..

  3. Love your post Bluebelle!!!! An inspiraton to us all................. cant wait to have my first go........... but nervous. not a youngster no more! in marina since Sept////// getting cabin fever.

Thanks hilaryb I'm no youngster either..luckily I can still walk, talk and eat so it's all a bonus smile.png I'm trying to find new mooring too at the moment..It'll be scary but exciting moving the boat for the first time, mainly because I'm worried if it breaks down or gets a plastic bag knotted up in the prop....

  4. I'm thinking of moving my boat on to a new site, nearer to my home, .must have electricity available for hook up and not be too expensive, if that's possible...any recommendations please? Must be either near Chorley such as Botany Bay, not white bear, not scarisbrick or fettlers wharf I'm currently not far from these...around this area would be great, what's Riley green like? Thanks x

  5. I've not taken my boat out yet either..it's been a long time since I was left to my own devices on a narrow boat, lol..fingers crossed will be as I remembered, I've not long since got my engine running too..maybe could do with a service before venturing out, I don't want to get stranded..still there's enough alcohol on my boat to survive, possibly 2 nights ;)

  6. I'm sure there must be lots of Artists on the forum, I have not painted for a while probably getting to be over a yr now, this was another reason I bought my boat I'm trying to get back in the mood to take up my brushes and paints again..I've had a lot of trauma in my life over the last few yrs and it's taken it's toll on my creativity..if you've done any recent work post it up here and I'll try to get inspired again..x
