Another one (new marina) just 30 mins from Brum... Kings Orchard Marina near Lichfield! http://www.canalmarinas.com/
-
I am referring to Kings Orchard Marina at Streethay. It opened Sunday, another boat came in Monday and Martin bought his in yesterday. Lol, no he's not the same Money Saving Expert Martin. I believe more are due/booked-in over the next few weeks

We've been moored in the marina since last Sunday having taken advantage of a special offer. There is water and leccie (albeit via generator) and the site is progressing with workmen here every day. Manager (Martin Lewis) now living on site in his boat too which is reassuring. No complaints from us so far!

I found this list of outlets useful from NBNoProblems blog... http://www.noproblem.org.uk/blog/links/diesel_split.htm

After much shopping around I found the AEG Ergorapido 2-in-1 pretty impressive - I tested it out in Currys. I'd originally purchased a Gtech Cordless Sweeper from Amazon and used it for about 6 months but was never happy with it. Finally returned it to Amazon who amazingly accepted it back with full refund etc! Here's the AEG one...

You mean she actually won a whole brand new shiny narrowboat or something else? Wow wee, I'd be jealous too!
-
Didn't spot any unfortunately but I'm sure I heard the lovely hooting of the Tawny owls at dusk whilst moored up on the Weston branch of the Monty just a couple of weeks ago but some folks we were with dismissed it saying it was just the wind howling across the fields.

Visited the marina this afternoon to enquire about moorings. They have had permission to open the marina to the canal today and we're clearing the opening when we arrived. Still a bit of work to make berths good for moorings but hopefully boats will be allowed in next week.
Took a couple of snaps and video whilst there but having problems uploading here, you can see them on my FB page... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151399595067854&l=8478111893531069752

Thanks for posting this cheshire-rose, I spotted a couple on our latest trip (last one in-between bridges 3 and 3 on the Shroppie) and wondered the best way to report them... Have downloaded the app and will test out on the next sighting!!!

Lovely boat, I'm sure you'll both have brilliant times aboard... Hope to see you around the system soon!
-
These are brilliant... You should enter them in the CaRT photo compo here!
-
Stunning and you've put my entries to shame. I've clicked the grey boxes for you but have to say I love the photo 'Awaiting the lock' By Malcolm Dodge on page 6. Surprised there aren't more with dogs in them!

Rig a flag pole or two and fly a flag or some other such wafting deterrent.

I downloaded the midlands version of ecanal mapp this week and have been pretty impressed with it so far. Found it very up to date with all the POI and in particular, as a newbie boater, love that it shows exactly where the Country Moorings are and gives you the distance.
For me what would make it perfect is if it showed other boats locations (like Navvygator). I just like to see who's out and about, especially as I follow a heck of a lot of boats on Twitter and FB but can't remember which canal they're currently on. ;-)

Great photos Alan... Love the one where the tree is silhouetted against the sunrise but James is the best! x
-
Ahhh Alan he's a beaute... Lots of oohing and aahhing from us this morning seeing your piccies and then noticed you're stuck in Ellesmere... So are we! We're moored on the arm (been here since Sunday pm) and will be here till Wed morn waiting for a medi prescription from the local docs. Will have a gander for you... Are you on Lucy Lowther?
-
Linkie Sorry if y'all know about this but it's just popped into my inbox this morn via one of my Google alerts... Not sure of exact date etc, will try to find out more today!

Can't believe I'm still wittering on about this, but today whilst reading the latest Towpath Talk moh pointed out what looks like the dogs doo dahs of a vacuum called the marinevac. Looks v impressive but before I talk him into buying me one has anyone here ever used one, have one or can recommend them?

More or less what I was trying to say in my post a week ago... Just not quite as articulate as you put it Chloe.
CanalPlan route editor nightmare

Hiya Peeps,
Jeff fancies a trip down to Gloucester (if poss) so, I've been trying for the last couple of hours to Plan a journey using the CanalPlan.eu website but tearing my hair out as it just will not do what I want it to!!!
Ok, I'd like to depart Kings Orchard Marina (Coventry Canal) and arrive Gloucester on a clockwise route taking in Stratford upon Avon, Tewksbury, Worcester, Stourport, Kidderminster, Dudley, Walsall and back to Kings Orchard Marina. Trouble is CanalPlan keeps sending me up the Worcester and Birmingham canal to Tardebigge etc... Please help, what am I doing wrong???
We're going to do it anyway, plan on leaving this Sunday but just wondered what sort of time scale we're looking at with a 5 hour average days cruising.
