  1.

Why would you need alternative access to an engine fire ?

Surely your automatic extinguisher in the engine room will 'sort it out'

At under £40 you know it makes sense

I think the presenter was talking about those few boats that still don't have one of those biggrin.png

  2. The latest thinking (as explained in one of the seminars at crick boat show) 3 x 1Kg foam and bonus of 1 x 2Kg on the basis that its easier to clean up afterwards if you manage to put the fire out than powder. Also an alternative way of getting fire extinguisher nozzle into engine bay than lifting the lid.

  3. Today, in the rain, halestone and wind, we left Wheelock heading for Middlewich.

For the miles before we reached the first lock, we saw ner a boat moving. The weather was truly awful.

Upon arrival at the first lock, Crows nest, we found it against us, but with nobody in sight, Ali filled it and we began the descent.

At this point a boat hove into view and an agitated lady disembarked. She was not apparently a happy bunny. When she approached Ali, she told her that we had "wasted" a lock which was in her favour!

Ali tried to explain that their boat was not in view, that we were already descending upon their approach, but all to no avail.

Transpires a single hander was ahead of us, and all the locks had thus far been in their favour and thus, So should this one have been!!!

So to the lady. Please accept our sincere apologies. Perhaps Black Prince will compensate you for your distress...

As you were going in the opposite direction to her presumably after you passed all the locks would be her favour, biggrin.png

  4. Including randomly generated tyre and mattresses round the propeller, complete with simulated hacksaw and arm down the weed hatch. I'm really getting into this and much cheaper than the real thing, I think I need to get out more :-(

  5. A boat with a dual kludge. Good idea !

Kludge a software or hardware configuration that, while inelegant, inefficient, clumsy, or patched together, succeeds in solving a specific problem or performing a particular task.

    Hhhhhhmmm cool.png

  6. I love it, its sooooo off the wall, nearly every feature made me smile, I wouldn't want to own it, but I love the idea that there is someone out there who thought these were the dream features to have on a boat :-)

  7. Wolverton was the base of The Royal Train.

Part of the escape plan for their majesties during the war was to evacuate them from London by train to Wolverton.

The next part of the journey to their safety in The Royal Ordnance Depot, Weedon Bec, Northampton would have been by boat.

The GUCC directors' inspection launch Kingfisher was transferred to the wharf at the base of those steps and kept there in preparation.

    Probably ..... blink.png

Ohh come on, you made that up clapping.gif
