  1. "looks" or "locks"? Indeed he's the chap who provides assistance if you want it and he's sober enough.

    MP.

Must be another one doing this, we were locked down the Rothersthorpe flight by a Leon who was/ is a homeless person and "likes" a drink

  2. We love it here on the River Nene, have a great mooring spot where no cars go passed, only shop is the Farm Shop owned by our landlord and provides fresh veg, eggs coal, wood etc. quiet and peaceful, there are only 3 boats in our corner and one pending arrival. It floods but does not cause that much trouble, we were flooded heavily 2012 and needed our row boat to get to the car park, we lost some plants, nothing compared to all the people who lost their homes in the floods.

The only downside is the numerous locks to navigate to get to the canal for our holiday.

  3. Coasty's thread is not about Supertherm.

My last batch of Supertherm came from Jules and it leaves the same weird red ash, vast volumes of it. Still stays in fine though for me in a Squirrel and in an Epping.

My last two bags of it were stolen from my boat a few weeks back whilst moored on Somerton Meadow. Let's hope they can't get it to stay in!

Stealing bags of coal!!!!! Jeez the brass neck of some scumbags.. I can top that though :-) I had 2 bags of John Innes horse manure stolen out of my garden when we lived on land :-) . I was gobsmacked, I would have given it to them if they were that desperate .

  4. I remember as a child a visitor to our house brought along his ferrets, he was trying to get us three children to stroke them.... " look "" he says " they are really tame" and promptly kisses it.... And oh yes the little creature grabbed onto his bottom lip and was not letting go... We three children running round the front room screaming at the sight of this grown man with a ferret stuck on his lip and blood everywhere.. Still makes me laugh my socks off now.. I still say to this day... Drink and ferrets do not go together .. People seem to find bravado when they have had a few :-)

  5. I tried to pm you ILMN but my tablet and message boards don't find it easy to communicate. And like others before me I'm at a loss to give added comfort at this time. But I would just like to convey a heartfelt desire that, though you live forever with the sadness, you still have fond memories that you must cling to and with time they will become stronger. Hugs

    ...................

Starcoaster, just wanted to add to your smokeless debate.... Thankfully we used up the last of the smelly smoky and temperamental fuel yesterday. We now on proper (?) smokeless fuel that is darn sight nicer .... It probably made by the same company but already I'm breathing more easily (or is it breathing easier?). Anyway, ty for bringing the change of product to my attention xx

Think you Stewart people have been so kind, I talk to him every day while walking my dogs and I say to him " for once Carl mum does have the last word " makes me smile and brightens my dark days :-( xx

  6. Hugs from me too ILMN

    Kind regards Bizzard.

Thank you Bizzard xx. Feel lost without my boy ( he really was the best thing in my whole life, from the moment he was born I loved him like nothing else on earth) he was a wonderful dad to his little girl and the most loving son any mum could wish for xx

Thankfully I have never experienced it but people say that when their child dies it is doubly devastating as it runs against the grain of nature. The natural way of things is for the parents to die first.

My brother's little girl died of meningitis aged 18 months and you can never know the pain until it happens to yourself. My younger brother died age 44 and now know why my mum reacted the way she did when he died. It is horrible and not fair :-( xx

  7. ILMN how sad. I can't find the right words to say to you.

All I can offer is a hug.

    (((((((i love my narrowboat)))))))

Mtb thank you , that was a very nice hug xx totally devastated and heartbroken, people say it was for a reason,, but for the life of me I will never understand nor come to terms why my boy left this earth before me :-( xx

  8. did you only notice once you had read this thread?

It all added up after I saw this thread, I have just lost my only child to cancer so had more on my mind.

Yes, clearly I am just gaslighting everyone and there is actually nothing amiss here....

Star by any chance have you had a sore throat since burning the coal, ? Only asking as I have had a sore throat and wondered should I go to the docs or stop burning the coal :-)

  9. Best wishes to you in whatever direction life takes you, we have also been through the mill and back, and after 4 years getting our life back on track only to be hit with my son's cancer, life is mean, kind, cruel, great up and down. Life is not fair and always asking 'why me' but it is sent to try us, so chin up and look forward.
