    That all means I am back to square one with no idea what my engine is. If its a HR 30HP then its a bloody lazy one as it can't push the prop I have put on. I was joking about filing it down. the numbers on the injector are BK680S05209B and DN 544800 TG. Does anyone have a very cheap SR2 that will bolt straight on to a Ducati box?

    Hi Bizzard was you having a lie in this morning, this means I am over propped which means I have waisted alot of money and effort. Think I will stick my arm down the weed hatch with a file till it goes numb, wonder how much I need to file off?

    Hi all adding to this thread I know have an injector out and will get my lad to put it on here soon, in the mean time can somebody explain the leak off pipes as I assumed they ran excess fuel back to the tank but in my engines case nothing comes out of the pipes, not at the tankend, the combined end or the injector end. Kind of makes the leak off pointless.

    Hi to all and a happy new year to come I hope. I have been away for the festive time so not thought to much about my problem, as some one pointed out I am out of my depth when you start asking me to adjust things on the govenor, I don't even see an injector pump. I have really tried to find some form of numbers on the lump but to no avail. The next thing I will do is take out an injector which I hope is not to hard a job and show it to Bizzard. If it is the same I will get them as it can't hurt to have good clean units for it to work with.
  8. The only way is to cut out all the old silicone and re seal with good quality sanitary grade silicone and keep well ventilated as said.

    What a world we live in I am a gas engineer and nearly on a daily basis I am getting calls from people saying there gas pipe from the meter into the property has been taken, and this is with the gas still on!!

    Yes there is a big difference between no load rev and underway rev its all looking like over propping, this does mean its not a SR2 because it should work. Yes I have pm'ed Chris. Has anyone turbo charged a Lister.

    I just want to say how much I appreciate all your efforts to help me cheers all, some more info.There is only a trace of smoke on idle I assume would be expected on a engine of this age. when out of gear it will rev way up to what I think is maximum, I certainly would not want to run flat out for long. Yes there is a point where when underway that it will not go any faster and thats when the black smoke appears if I move the throtle forward nothing happens if I bring it back to just over tickover the smoke goes but the boat slows down. The prop was brand new from Midlands chandlery so should be right one if its the right one for my set up remains to be known. If nothing else this is a facinating insight into the world of injection systems, just wish I knew what engine I have now.

    So what you are saying Roger is I must be over proped. Also replying to your earlier post no way did I wish to imply that Crowthers had misled me in anyway I fully understand they can and indeed anyone else can only go on data given.

    Firstly Claudia is a 1977 unknown builder 33 foot cruiser stern narrow boat that has certainly seen better days. The stop is a cable going to a cam on the port side of the engine. The video shows the engine being started for the first time today in a temperature of 3 degrees.

    Hi Bizzard I pull my knob to stop it though it does not appear to be very well fitted. There just isn't any markings on it to say what it is but I have done a video, just need someone to come in the office with a full brain cell to do the next bit.

    Don't want to be famous but that sounds like a very good idea that is how I get your ears brillient. There is no plate of any kind on it I have followed other threads saying where the data is but mine has nothing, I just assumed it was a SR2. that is what I have been going on and yes I established it had a 2-1 reduction box and fitted a 17x12 left hand prop. Sorry Bizzard but you are starting to get beyond my mechanical ability but I will have a go at the weekend, in the mean time I will do a video.

    Morning all, I have no problem starting it at all and when it appears to bog down the smoke is black, there is not a great deal of it but its there. When i changed the filters I also put a new lift pump on and it seemed to pump very well, I will try the while running test though. I will do the heat at each rocker top at the weekend though this time of year it doesn't seem to get hot at all. Hope I don't have to go down the weed hatch and play with the prop again I have just got the feeling back in my arms from the last time and it's much colder now.My thoughts on over proping are if it is slightly to much for the engine would not a long run not slowly allow the forward momentum of the boat increase to allow the engine to get on top of the effort. Would you not see a differance between into the current and with the current, as you see I know nothing but learning all the time.

    Sorry about this I am not really a computer person and have never done so much typing. I usually just look through other peoples threads and try to work it out so really I am way out of my depth on here anyway.

    I have done the decompresser test and it still runs with either one across though there is slightly more knock with the front one decomped, not done the other bit as not sure where to get the stuff from. But from this I suppose both cylinders are firing which does not solve my problem. I would describe the problem as driving along with the brakes on, I keep checking that I am not dragging weed and try the into reverse for a bit manouvre, getting very frustrated with this one.

    Hi PaulJ I don't think its this though you have got me thinking, mine will rev right up out of gear and will speed up to a point in gear. I did move the leak off to the tank which I believe is straight in and unlike Penta..... er! somebody else I don't have a tap in the line.

    Now you are really confusing things, which one do I use as the firing compression as I assume that is the important one to determine the tightness test. Hi Pentargon I have not got any further with this as i haven't found the data to tell me what reading I should be looking for.
