I was visiting Crick marina yesterday (smaller mooring area) and noticed a stunning Narrowboat called “Leon”.
I’m thinking this is a Barry Hawkins boat ??? and it appears to be quite newly painted . Can anybody help me locating the owner to find out which company or person painted this boat. I have a new traditional Narrowboat which will soon be ready for painting . Thanks for any help you can supply.
Bramangie
I think it’s a Tyler Wilson.New boat, painted maybe 2015 by the owners.

this is a narrowboat launch trailer i made two years ago it will carry 16 tons, with turn table front stearing very maneuverable, it has also got a hydraulic lift system so you can jack up your boat chock it up and pull the trailer out to be use again. the boat can be worked on without tying up the trailer.this has been very usefull tell me what you think

Where did you source the wheels? Are they polyurethane bonded units?

As a matter of interest, the ceiling on a barge is actually the hull wall. ?
To further confuse, the ceiling on the Poseidon was the deck.

We painted ours last year.
Oh dear, I’d completely forgotten that thread. June last summer, maybe it was a warm day and I’d been drinking... Thanks for the reminder, it tells me all I need to know.

No they don't. It is just very ordinary paint for which the charge a fortune. If you must paint over lovely oak veneer, and want good paint, go to a decent Paint Merchant like Brewers and get them to mix some for up from a reputable brand. Most professional decoraters seem to like Dulux but others are available
Don't be fooled, it wont be to the same specification as their own branded paint, even some paint bearing the Dulux name bought in DIY barns is not a s good as the Professional paints they make.
Thanks David. I agree about painting over the veneer, however it has some water damage from a leak. It’s only one panel in the bedroom. Going to try the paint route and if it doesn’t suit will then change the whole panel.

Anyone know paint type and any tips for painting over oak veneer panels. Would like it to still show the grain through the paint.

Has it changed much, decor and atmosphere wise? It’s one of our favourite pubs, especially in the winter months when the fires roaring. Often quiet over winter and very snug.

To be straight, £500 does not sound completely over the top depending on what engine is fitted. Vetus and Barrus Shite are eye wateringly expensive , the engine has to be lifted and supported and the poor mechanic has to squeeze his body into some strange shapes to reach some of the lower nuts to remove/ refit.
Yes I thought £500 might not be over the top. By the way, my Barrus isn’t such a bad engine Matty.

We are really back to trying to guess why something has happened. There's no reason to remove the breather, yet clearly this has happened. I wonder why....
Indeed.

That's a different matter. On this gearbox, the filler and breather are separate
Perhaps it was removed to be cleaned? Maybe it was stolen?

How on earth do you lose one?
What's probably happened is it had the earlier mushroom type breather that got stood on too many times
Richard
Well as it happens, I watched a guy place his gearbox filler bolt near the edge of his stern deck last winter. Seems they don’t float.

As would the original breather plug, but....
Yeh but if it’s lost... seen the price of a replacement?

I learned some time ago to stop wondering why when it comes to boats. That way, madness lies
Richard
That’s a truth. Though in this case it would help prevent foreign objects dropping into the box.

Mastervolt are simply the bizz, they are motre expensive than Victron. Victron are also very good. Sterling are way down the line way way below either of the other two. I had a sterling combi on one boat that I bought and I quickly replaced it with a Mastervolt.
Did the sterling not work?

Would an AVO model 7 have any value ? I have one to sell on which seems complete with probes , a leather case and instruction book.
50 quid if it’s in good condition. Lovely item.

What is the problem? Went through last year without problems. Width thing?

We changed our current boats name over 4 years ago. It still doesn’t show in the Canalplan listing.

As Tb says, it’s not being measured adequately.
Ah ok. Thanks for explaining. Back to the bar for me.

You are wrong.
The fridge’s rated wattage is its steady state consumption. However when the compressor motor starts up, there will be a much higher short term “surge” demand, which could overload and trip an inverter rated at the fridges rating. How big the surge, how tolerant the inverter is of short term overloads, are variables that are type specific and therefore hard to anticipate. So either add a healthy chunk of extra inverter power, or risk a trial and error process.
Yes, but isn’t the 628 Watts the surge demand? Anyway at least I won my bet.

OOh blimey I hadnt thought of that lol. Well I am fick innitt. You may well be right but it doesnt seem much? I was hoping somett like a 1000 watt verter would do but will wait for more answers ?
Yes I would wait. I know very little about anything and I’m in the pub, which is always a dangerous place to give advice from.

Inverters are generally measured/sold by watts aren’t they? Therefore do you just need a wattage above the 600 odd measurement you have? 1,000 watt inverter? Somebody will be along to tell me why I’m wrong I bet.

On the ones with indication, what does the indication indicate, does it show both diodes are healthy of that you have earth leakage taking place or both.
Think from memory if one light is showing it’s a DC leak. Both lights AC leak.

Hi -
I am assuming that we are talking one toilet? From what you say, sounds like this is a 57' with the convertible single/double beds at the stern, then bathroom then double bed.
In which case, there is ONE tank under the double, but it is spilt in two. The central section fills up first, thus not affecting the list of the boat, then it will start overflowing into the side tank, at which point the boat starts to lean over!
There are two emptying points, but it is one big tank. Timed pump out tend not to allow long enough to empty the whole thing out. Some places will try and charge you for two tanks.
Does this mean you need to pump out from both sides to empty?

Does anyone have a decent supplier of 0-60psi pressure gauges that are suitable for use with water? Preferably bottom entry and 1/4npt or BSP?
Im wanting to fit one to my water system to enable easy checking & setting of the adjustable pressure switch as discussed in my other thread....the one that’s just arrived from eBay...from China it seems even tho it said UK supplier...was made of such thin brass on the thread that it snapped at barely over finger tight....and all the eBay ones look much the same unless I’ve been unlucky! I don’t want to pay a fortune as it’s not exactly mission critical but one that’s made of decent metal might help...there was a fair amount of swearing getting the broken half out of the fitting it was screwed into!
You may have already done but if not I’d suggest you contact the supplier. I’ve had similar problems a few times and have always been sent replacements.

I think a decent plumbing supplier would sort that for you.
