Dear Gunwaler,
if you react with answers like this, I don't think that you'll make many friends on any forum.
With a little bit of effort, you could have found some nicer words to express yourself.
Peter.
I got lots of frends. You dont realy think that those who post their stuff on here are realy tru frends do you?

That's what I found in the winter, had to cross the unlocked, just hover bridge and open it full for Diana to get the boat through. Last time we came down (you were out) I unlocked said bridge and smartly went across for it to open behind me. I then had to walk up the deck to close it afterwards.
Not possible on the Oxford now, you have to get your key out.
I got down the oxford without a key just by askin other boaters to help.

I have a friend who is a bin man, we are even on his round. I got chatting to him one day and they are not allowed to take anything that is not in the bin. One of his mates got disciplined for it. Council snoop out watching them work.
I dont care as long as they get rid of my battry and my be make a few kwid. There is to much helth and safety.
-
And the boats cabin electrics is working much better now on two cabin battries.
-
Well I left it at Croperedy and i went back there today and its gone.
Sumbody must like taking old battries away.
Im just wundering what the best make of battry is to buy to replace it.
Im going back to the tHames. Anybody suggest a good place to buy battries near oxford?

I do not know of anywhere that BW recycle batteries, could you inform us where this facility is, it may be handy for the rest of us.
or
You have illegally dumped it, commonly known as fly tipping and if caught there is a possibility of a £1,000 fine.
Not that I wish to cast aspersions on your good character.
Theres allways one takes the bate

Been runnin the boat with two cabin battries only and its been ok. The varta battry was about 7 years old. ive given it to BW to recicle.
-
Thank you for the advise.
Ive taken out the old battry and so far the cabin electrisity is ok.
Ill let you now hear if its ok in the morning.

Im shure that many of you clever boggers here know how to do it, but i dont. How do you go threw a lift bridge solo?
Ive come unstuck on some oxford canal lift bridges this week. I needed help. What I do is ate for another boat to cum through and go wih them, but is there a way of doing it solo?

Spellbinder murks hear fur me.

You mean the virtial pub thing is not really there?
-
When i click my content why dusnt it show up my stuff in the virtial pub?
-
You now what? I find bare feet works good too.
-
Rite ive taken the varta battery out and im now running the engine and charging up the others. ill let you know what happens. using the spell checker now.
-
And what is the voltage on the batteries when the engine is running?
Tony
About 14 ive got an ameter and a voltmeter. The ameter shows about 20 amps going in when i start the engine. Whe3n i stop the engine it shows\ about 13 volts on the gage but it drops\very qickly.
-
It takes a long long time to fully recharge a bang flat battery (assuming it will take charge again). How long are you recharging them for?
Well I rekon I run the engine for at least five hours a day.
-
Ive got three battries feeding the cabin and won feeding the engine starter on my brothers boat.
Trubble is the cabin battries are going flat evry night even when evrything is switched off. I dont know when my brother changed\ the\ battries last time, but one of them is a varta and the\others aint.
The varta battry needed a lot of water. Culd that be the problem? Shuld I change it?
Good advise wuld be apreciated

I spell how it co9mes out at the the time.
I know i dont spell the same words the same way every time. Dose that make me somehow inferier to you lot? I dont think so.
Ok I apologise for using bad languige but some of you lot here realy do piss me off with your know it all suspitions and like thinking you are high class boaters better than everywon else or something.
You think I have duel identity? Well I dont. Not on here anyway.
And if i did so what?
You know what. I think Ill use the spelchecker from now on. Then w3hat will you lot suspect?
-
You are forgetting to be consistent with I and i. You've spelt friendly and friends with and without an i too
Richard
You now want to take the [deleted] of me cos I carnt spell?

I have a sneaky suspicion that gunwaler is not such a new member as he would have us think...
I went on this forum because i thought i would find friends here and lern about boating. But it seems to me that the ones who domminate this forum arnt friendly at all. I didnt undersatnd Carls post. But when I asked a moderater it was explaned to me. I dont like being accused of being somebody that I am not.
If that is the way you welcome new members on this forum then Im going.
In the short time that Ive been boating on the canals Ive found that reel people are very frendy and nice but people here are not frendly.
I prefer reel people.
Im going.
