What's the OSB? If its the board behind the carpet, perhaps that needs to go aswell, and a new piece fitted. The carpet and wallpaper will be full of mould spores, and you need to get rid of them to solve the problem. Anything else will be merely masking things until it returns - IMHO.

the problem is the carpet is made of long nylon fibres and when you pull it off it snaps into little pieces so you can't remove it,i have the same boat as bsp and i removed one side of the bedroom wall carpet with a scrapper but it took days of hard slog.

edited to add - the wardrobe and the bed are fitted to the wall so would have to remove both to get at the carpet.

  2. Has anybody seen an advert for freaky Friday, I'm sure it is usually first Friday of October and as I need a new fridge it would be ideal timing.

usually the end of october around the 21st or 28th.

The new Arleigh website is now live!

Our sister company Arleigh are excited to announce the launch of their new website. The new site is launching in two stages, the first is an overhaul of the current Arleigh.co.uk website and the second will be a new e-commerce site to replace the current arleighonline.co.uk trade portal.

The aim is to make it easier for new and existing customers to find the products they need and to bring together the two existing websites. The second stage launch featuring the new and improved e-commerce interface will launch in November 2015.

  3. I was thinking about this a few days ago.

Reading the website they have been taken over by another company that owns eurocar parts.

Think they should trade the same always have 25 to 30% off.

Let's see is freaky Friday happens.

Arleigh are the sister company along with Nova Leisure i don't think they have taken over MC

  4.

Is the tunnel getting lower or is the guage just more conservative?

I reckon the tunnel is getting a bit lower each year or maybe I just don't bend down as easily as I get older.

Have done the tunnel three times in the last month and I really do think its lower than last year but surely we would have heard if this was the case?

Forgot to take the front chimney off and the guage knocked the coolie hat off but the chimney itself just got through, it was quite hard work getting the boat through the tunnel with the chimney up so I reckon the guage is not far wrong. Got told off as we came out and I deserved it, really should have stopped and taken the chimney off.

    ..............Dave

the water level changes depending on lock use from the macc, sometimes my OH can stand up and other times he has to bend down.

  5. If it was me, and the consequences of the accusation of overstaying has serious repercussions, I would go back to CRT and demand an explanation why their records do not show a sighting at Harecastle.

In this instance Harecastle is more than an incidental point at which boats pass. It is a detailed record of boats passing the tunnel, and for your boat not to be recorded would be a critical violations of CRT essential safety procedures. Make a fuss.

to be clear i wasn't accused of overstaying i was just curious to see my cruising records, i did email them back at the time with all of the dates they had missed including Frankton locks onto the Montgomery and Anderton lift onto the weaver (both are bookable passages only), they didn't reply.

  6. Most of the red answers from GoodGurl I have to agree with.

It really is best not to tell authorities and firms things that they don't need to know which might cause issues for you.

But this one We would need to register our driving licences, passports and suchlike at her address no

I would have thought the answer was yes for driving licences and passports.

yes you are right it should have been YES, i misread it.

  7. Providing our improved health remains stable, it looks as though Mrs CW, the dogs and myself are going to sell our pile of bricks, contents and car, and live aboard full time. I realise it is possibly prudent to keep a land based home of some sort, and possibly rent it out, but I don't see us doing that. Even if we packed in the boat there is no guarantee we would stay in the UK. It might be a "plan B" though.

    So the questions:

My daughter is happy to be a "postal address" for us. Any probs with that (especially from her point of view?) We would need to register our driving licences, passports and suchlike at her address no

We would be in the same area to remain registered with our current doctor, again any probs with that (presumably if ill in a different area we could register as temp. patients?) you don't need to stay in the same area just be there if you are ill. don't tell the DR

Same as above with dentist? don't tell them either

What happens re TV licence? if your daughter buys one your covered.

Any recommendations for boat insurance when living aboard? just upgrade your existing to fully comp.

Have we gone mad? completely

We are quite well equipped having lived aboard for several months at a time, though never in the coldest weather. We thought we might like to take short term marina moorings or similar for the coldest months.

Any other advice gratefully received smile.png

I know these have been asked many times before, but some things change so going for updated advice.

    Many thanks cheers.gif
