Ah, ok. thanks.
that's the gubbins. Do you have a manual?
-
-
yes, draws fine but no difference, wheel open, ash pan door open or close, the hole in the back does nothing I can tell. Roars like a good un with bottom air.
I need to identify the model and find the manual it seems.
the hole is in the space behind the back boiler and adjacent to the glue so wouldn't, in any event , draw air over the fuel.
maybe it's for cleaning ash from that space.
i have the slightly newer version of this and its a 1430 clean air, the hole at the back is part of the airwash system, supposedly to keep the glass clean but it doesn't.

identical to this one;
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/232073227055
you can see the knob I mean in picture 10
does it have the turning disc on the ash door? if so you need to open it along with the bar underneath to get air in. opening the ash door slightly also helps the draw.

its for getting air into the stove to control the heat, fully open should get the fire raging and slowly closing it afterwards will give a steady heat source/slumber.

I asked the question and boaters are sent texts; emails; letters when they overstay; there are approximately 80 Reasonable Adjustments in place across the network, so it is possible they are covered by this?
does this cover people buying a boat for the first time?
-
They are probably under enforcement but its not a quick process to get them removed from the water, i seem to remember EO's are not allowed to speak to overstayers for fear of conflict.
-
With all due respect
I wasn't having a niggle. Just asking the question of, has there been any updates recently?
Personally (in my opinion of course), I think it's turning into a bit of a poor show from Chris or Graham, that they (as far as I know) have not had or been in any contact with the forum that spent so much time and effort helping them out.
Perhaps Yank has heard from them?
i think yank on the cut and chris and graham only signed up here to find their boat knowing it had a chance of being found if posted here.
edited to add : they have both been on the forum since yesterday.
-
Nope nothing from them yet.
-
Ceratianly has that look - it's also going down (I mean direction, it's obviously gone down) so probably not top paddles or catching under the cill, possibly on it?
elderly lady was rescued off the roof, friend put gang plank over to the steps to get her off safely
-
Probably because the two ground paddles on that lock have been out of action for months and the gate paddles on that section are very fierce.......
probably.
However, is it in or near the lock, it seems CRT are confuddled.
The boat has sunk in Weston Lock. The lock is closed until the boat has been removed. We are working to remove the boat as quickly as possible.
Description:Boaters are asked to proceed with care as a boat has sunk near Weston Lock. We are working to move the boat as quickly as possible
deffo in the lock
picture took by a boater nearby.

I've merged these two topics as they discuss much the same subject.
Do bear in mind the the following forum rule.
"Threads openly criticising moderating decisions will not be tolerated. Any questions concerning the running of the site or moderator decisions must be sent using the report button, by PM to the moderation team, or by e-mail to staff@canalworld.net. The site owner and moderators will discuss problems privately and individually but NOT in the open forum
Any private communications to the site owner or moderators that are abusive in tone or language will result in instant exclusion from the site."
is there a reason this line is added? is this a new rule.

There is no doubt that things are a changing. Thunderboat used to be the tap room with this place the lounge. I have previously referred to feral behaviour over there but the truth is it is becoming a more pleasant place by the week and people are voting with their feet.
yes they are thunderboat has gained 54 CWDF members this week.

Did I miss something he said then, or did he have something deleted that I missed?
Confused.
in his own words he said he had been banned for being disruptive

^^^This^^^
I'd like to remind everyone we reached a sort of consensus last weekend that a 'week to a fortnight' would be about right. I think a fortnight is more reasonable.
If we say two weeks is reasonable for Dan to come carry out his promised review and come up with a new way forward, we are being a bit premature to be asking for an announcement.
Mind you personally, I think Dan has decided there is nothing wrong so come next weekend, all we will get is a deafening silence. I do hope I'm wrong about that though.
so whats changed mike? are there new rules no, has there been an announcement about whats changed no, is everyone here happy no.
you said this 6 days ago.

so why 2 weeks when you demanded NOW back then? i think you were right the first time it does need sorting now, sooner than later.

The bans should be reviewed
The rules need to be fairly applied and maybe reviewed
Moderation Should be as open as possible, respecting privacy at all times
The current affairs should be reopened and I suggest modded by carl
And above all we need to move on, mistakes were made we are all human
lets hope the team are listening then
-
I have no idea...nor do I think it important any more.
If Daniel is willing to review the bans fairly then I think that should be enough.
What seems to be happening is that there are those who wish to humiliate the mods and Daniel and I don't think that is any better than those who wanted to "cleanse" the forum of folk they felt were unsavoury.
but they are still members here and i should imagine anyone following these threads can pick out who they were by the way they defend some of the comments.
-
But what resolution to you want from this?
Yes that is important but you are asking for something that you yourself are unwilling to do...breach a confidence.
Folk have asked you to name names and events which you won't do,
The moderators and Daniel have been asked to break what they believe are confidences which they won't do.
Both you and the mods are correct in your actions.
I didn't...Others have split us up into "nice" and "nasty".
if the mods asked the members for their permission to post that information would they anyway?
if the people in the meeting that gave dan the ban list gave me permission to post yes i would.
-
Not for me it isn't.
We cannot undo the past and, to be honest, I've seen some pretty nasty stuff coming from both sides.
The stuff said on that FB conversation bears some striking similarities to stuff I've read on TB in tone and content
The difference is, of course, the folk on TB are not trying to give the impression that they are inhabiting the moral high ground (and some are delighting in sitting on the moral low ground).
There is a great deal of hypocrisy swilling about here and I do think it would be helpful if both sides stopped and decided what is important.
what is important is the fact people were banned with no apparent reason and with you being a member of both sites you should know that.
-
I agree and when there is a resolution we may still be frequenting the same forum so will need to get on.
Despite attempts from Cereal Tiller and Victor Vectis to suggest the contrary I have tried to remain civil at all times and talk positively about the future.
Sneering criticism does not help and is just the sort of behaviour that the perpetrators seem to be opposing.
but isn't this mess all about that?
-
Yes, same side as me and all the other nice people on this forum.
Those who want to talk about boats, canals and so on.
Those like a joke and can poke gentle fun at each other.
NOT those who seen intent on wrecking CWDF.
NOT those who sulk and whinge like little kids when they can't get their own way.childish remark from an adult, you may want to look at some of your own postings on that score.
For Gawds sake if you don't like it here then just go somewhere else. i have
This must be a strange, new use of the word 'help' with which I am not familiar.
And.................you use the word 'them' instead of 'us'. Them and us? Hmmmmmmm. Interesting. because it has turned into "us and them" we are not allowed to ask questions about moderation and if we are they don't get answered even to the point of being removed/banned if they dont like what we ask as in the case of nicknorman. tell me what did he do wrong?
-
If someone is Banned for two weeks (some may say "suspended") and told that " the situation will be reviewed in two weeks" could I ask "in what light will it be reviewed, there cannot be any posting evidence, they are Banned.
I don't mind. It was a reasonable question to ask.
but you didnt answer the question as highlighted could you please elaborate on how it will be reviewed if they can no longer post.
