  1. As someone who lives near the Trent/canal, if you do not want to go much past Beeston Marina, you could wind and reverse onto the canal as just past are moorings. Going down stop on the moorings reserved for the lock, left side is better and stop well short. Check moorings on the other side and you can then decide what's best. As for the moorings on the Trent next to county hall, exit lock onto the Trent and turn right, Moor past Trent bridge on the left.

are they not CRT moorings both sides of the lock past the service block? i think they are unless somethings changed. the only place to moor after the lock is after the moorings towpath side before the bridge.

ed to add, you can wind in the arm by the service block, no need to reverse into the lock.

  2. Is it not the done thing for mods to inform a poster if they delete any posts the poster may have made , has it come to the point they no longer need to explain the why and wherefore of anything the feel is against A , THE FORUM RULES OR B , JUST THEIR PETTY MIND SET

it is polite to tell you they have removed a post of yours and the reason why, have you asked them why?

  3. Sorry folks but I have little to add, except that yes, as Mickp confirmed on here a couple days ago, Graham and Chris have their boat back and it is thanks to you lot, the boating community. I have no idea where it is but also no reason to think it is not at Great Haywood.

You are everything people say you are and much more.

I have no doubt that Graham and Chris have a terrific story to tell which I for one very much look forward to hearing but they cannot do so yet. Also as there will have to be a court case they may not be able to talk any time soon.

But this was a very well-executed robbery which very nearly worked, on a very distinctive boat in a very busy marina on a busy stretch of canal, with hundreds of people searching.

So this thread or a new one should focus on security. Please do not think about chaining your boat to the pontoon as that is a huge risk in a fire. At Mercia we would not have it.

Well done all. I am really proud of being part of this community.

    what does this mean?

I can't actually recall seeing anything that confirms anybody has been apprehended.

But it is now a very long thread, with an increasing number of totally spurious posts appearing, so maybe I missed it.

Can you find the actual post that confirms person or persons was caught?

I must admit I am also totally struggling to comprehend why somebody thought a partial repaint would be enough to disguise this boat sufficiently that it would not be found on a busy canal, less than 2 days travel from where it was taken from. As they seem to have removed it from the marina very efficiently, and had huge numbers of people looking a long while, that particular twist doesn't fit the rest of the story.

We are still not able to join in with comments etc at the moment. Two points we would like to clarify, there was no one on board when we found our boat, also we have not been informed by the Police that anyone has been arrested. Thank you all for comments and kind words, we really do appreciate you all.

  4. I think you have a rather romantic notion of how most forces now operate in relation to found low value items.

Thankfully they have now prioritised their efforts to more urgent matters.

I would suggest if the op doesn't wish to keep it if not claimed they weigh it in and donate the proceeds to a charity of their choice.

thats a bit harsh, it could have sentimental value to the owner.

  5. Spoke to chri graham asked me to thank everyone on here for all the help in getting her back.its been at western for a while and it was spotted by a member on here yesterday.no one was with the boat when it was found.they say they will post soon as they needed to stay quiet untill they got the boat safe

so it has been identified as the stolen boat? have the thieves been caught?

  6. It seems pretty odd to go to all the trouble of painting it and then call it something that stands out-why not "Kingfisher?"

But that's what I am saying, the police investigate leads, you don't have to deliver your own criminals for them to act...

Ok yeah maybe sometimes you do, but a call informing them of what, 80k or so potentially stolen goods ready to pick up complete with thief? I'm pretty sure they'd give them a knock and eliminate them or otherwise.

yes but if the owners identify it as theirs then the police can be called, otherwise its another wild goose chase and a waste of police resources surely.
