I also have a 31' grp cruiser with fore/aft cabins/w house and have the slightly smaller propex 1600 heater with 12v blower.
whilst I do not live aboard permanently & only have it on for a few hrs per day in the winter, it is not really adequate to heat the whole boat unless its running for a long period, ok if you close one vent (I have 2) and stay in one cabin. You may manage with the 2kw version if your boat is v well insulated, mine isnt!
Mine also takes about 5 minutes before it blows hot.

I had a kipor suitcase that did little work before an electrical component failed and wasnt economical to replace, I also seem to remember there werent many dealers/parts available.
Unless you are using it occassionally I would go for Honda/yanmar/briggs etc

thanks for the recommendations, mostly for the periodic log type, I was hoping to be able to use something smaller but realising small aerial=small signal,
I could try the mini periodic.
The only avtex one I can see is shaped like a vertical bow tie, does look more convincing than my current one.

I have a mercury digital tv aerial, a white plastic thing, the type with adittional removable antennae that always get bent!
It also has a 12v booster which is always on.
Its sited on the wheelhouse roof on a pole about 500mm.
The signal is very poor, (there isnt one most of the time) there is a large building at one side which will effect but I think there must be a better solution?
Can anyone recommend one, I would prefer not to have a giant pole with a household aerial on the end although it would maybe be most effective!

I have a senior 31 and used airtec type insulation throughout yet leaving some of the original polystyrene where useable.
Not found it to be very effective, I think partly because there must be a sufficient gap (see tech spec) either side of the insulation for maximum effect.
For this reason I didnt glue but cut it to slide in loosely between the beams of the cabin roof etc so there is at least some airflow.

We have not long had a new cover made by DB Covers. The chap is an Ex-Wilson's of Kinver employee. He has done a first class job for us. I don't know if he will travel to Chester though.

The website is a bit basic but it will have the contact details though.
I can make you one if you send me the old one, providing its a good fit! im on the east coast but may travel if expenses are paid?

May be able to help with upholstery, probably too far away for the other!

In the manual I have, it is quoted as 90mm diameter and to extend 60cm above the air vent. However I know very well that mine came with a brass mushroom to fit to the roof and so doesn't meet these specs, and has passedd BSC and a smoke test!
It goes on to say that if an elbow is fitted it should have a 1cm drain for condensation!
Thanks for the info, I would like to keep it as short as is safely possible, especially it exits in front of the wheelhouse window. I suppose part of the 600m could be kept inside the boat if the heater was situated a bit lower?

hello
I have a paloma ph-5lfe instantaneous water heater I intend to fit to my grp cruiser (private craft), also diesel!
Im awaiting reply from the manufacturer as I need instructions of how to fit the flu, more specifically what length it needs to be, is there a means of calculating this, is it best to leave long until a smoke test is done then cut down accordingly, can anyone offer advice please?

To elaborate on the good advice I would suggest looking at a fabric called 'topgun' its like the regular acrylic pu coated canvas yet has a shinier coating that makes it more durable & cleanable whilst being easier to work with & better looking than pvc imo.
