Biggest issue isn't how to interface to the boat controls it's how to secure the link between the remote and what's being controlled.

Apparently it's 5 1/8"Do you have any dimensions of that pulley?
Richard
http://www.mossmotors.com/graphics/products/PDF/433-696.pdf
75 - 80 had a larger pulley apparently.
-
On my 18V engine the pulley has 12H963 cast into it. This is a 1979 petrol b series.Sorry, no. There is a number cast into the pulley, it doesn't match the parts lists. We checked with an MG specialists
Richard
On the Moss website they list 3 pulleys. 1 without a damper (1962 - 3) 12H773, 12963 (64 - 70) and 12H3515 (1970 - 4). Main difference is where the timing marks are, apparently all are interchangeable ( on petrol at least).
-
The Americans on the MGexp forum swear by them as a way of helping keep oil in B series engines.
There's a lot of discussion on MG forums about the harmonic damper/ pulley. General view of the expert engine builders is that without them engine life can be affected - racers having problems with broken cranks. They're available second hand from MG breakers.

painting a narrow red coachline...not sure.
I used vinyl tape to put a neat white stripe on my boat. Doesn't require a coach painters skill and can be done in a few minutes.

C&G did say that 1 fender eye had recently been replaced and was a lot shinier than the rest. It could look chrome.
Just checked - starboard front fender eye post 7. Wouldn't be seen in previous picture.

We have a thermostatic blend valve on the outlet of the calorifier that mixes cold water with the hot to regulate the temp to 55 deg C. Has the effect of significantly increasing the effective calorifier capacity.

Where we moor has a septic tank sewage system and we can't empty the toilet cartridge into it due to the blue killing the bacteria that make the tank function. What can we use in the tank that won't cause a problem with the tank but will still keep the loo 'fresh'?

Diamond place Oxford has a pool and Leisure centre. About 15 mintues walk from the canal - moor by Aristotle bridge. Next to co-op, m&S and other shops as well.

If you know which way the crane is going where is there in that direction that could be used for a lift and how far away is it?

Good suggestion. It would help if it was colour coded to denote verified info and possible / unverified data.
Shows what is known fact and what is supposition

Given the time since it's gone it would be possible to remove the identifying steel work and also cut new / additional Windows or change the port holes to opening windows. If done carefully it might not need much paint repair.
All depends how organised the thief is.

Does it let you see which boat is at which pier? If so we might have answered one of the questions.

Just come up from Lower Heyford to Banbury and no sign of it.

Might be worth contacting local cycling clubs. If they have an off road section they might cycle the tow paths as a club run. At this time of year a run is about 100 miles, so they'd cover a lot of ground.

Sign writing could have been prepared in advance using vinyl. It would be easier to 're-name' a non sign written boat than one that had been named...

There was a thread a few years ago on here about lock bumping - which is a method used by Theves to open Yale locks. Apparently needs a newish lock and a special key. Opens it as fast as the correct key apparently.
We're on the South Oxford - we'll keep an eye out in case.
-
So in addition to tools the guy must have have paint, paint roller and something to remove the CRT Number, along with a plan of when and where to stop and carry out the painting.
Unless the owner kept paint and a brush/ roller on board just in case.

How much fuel was in the tank and how fast do you usually get through it? Would give some idea about how far it could cruise before having to pick up diesel. It would then allow you to contact the fuel vendors in the area it was last sighted and warn them to keep a look out.
Do you have a lock on the tank...?

I nearly deprived the world permanently of some highly educated young woman in Cambridge.
While driving through the city centre she suddenly entered the main road I was on without looking, and progressed across into my lane. After wobbling around for a couple of yards she removed one hand form the handlebar in order to search for her mobile phone and managed to get her flowing bat cape around the chain.
Her phone ended up under my wheels, which I considered a success considering the alternative, she apparently did not. However my Mandarin isn't what it used to be so I can't be sure what she called me.
I think education is a wonderful thing, and should be wasted at every opportunity.
We have a large number of Chinese students at our local University. The first month of the academic year is "interesting" as they discover that UK road traffic responds differently from what they're used to.

Why do they wait til they're 5 metres behind you?
Probably because most pedestrians seem to be using personal stereos or are on the phone and can't hear you from any further away. I've followed pedestrians on my bike for considerable distances politely ringing the bell. It's only when you pass them that they realise you're there. There are dangerous/dopey pedestrians out there as well as dangerous cyclists...

Something simple to check. On the end of the prop shaft where it joins the gear box there is a coupling that clamps on to the shaft. Are all of the bolts tight? (Guess how I know...)

I have 2 fuse boxes, 1 for each battery. The engine battery powers the tunnel light and the horn. Both are relay switched and are isolated when the ignition's off. A 5W solar panel also connects to this fuse box via a a charge controller. The second fuse box is connected to the domestic batteries and powers everything else.
I carry a spare jump lead so I can start off the domestics if necessary - I might change this to a contactor if I decide to bridge the alternators.
The bilge pump is connected to both fuse boxes via a home built controller. This draws power from the domestics and will run the pump from them till they're flat. It will then draw power from the engine battery. Potentially this could leave me with no ability to start the engine but I decided keeping the boat afloat was more important. (I might modify it to pulse the horn if it switched to the engine battery as an emergency warning)

We moored at Lower Heyford this summer and got the train to Oxford. Easy journey however the train is something like every hour.
