In the summer of 2006 I will be cruising from Nottingham to .......as far as I can in 3 weeks,and then back again,I am offering a free passage to someone who will crew for me,muck in,and at the same time have a holiday for free.All I ask is that the person pays their own way,around £40 a week.If 6 weeks seems too much I would consider less. The cruise is for me a holiday,and an opportunity to get involved in lifes open windows .Too meet new friends,and take many photographs for a book I am writing.I am also informed that there many pubs on the way,and a tipple of Guiness would be well desrved after a days cruising! This may be ideal for someone considering having their own boat,yet are unsure,,and unable to splash out the costs involved in hiring.Although I am quite able to cruise on my own,I want to give something back to life,that is why I have decided to make this offer.The person can be male or female,age is immaterial. Although maturity would compliment the offer. My narrowboat is 55' long,and new this year. If anyone here knows of someone that may be interested,please would you give them my details,as all those that are, will be considered.Emails would be the best way forward initially. Good thoughts,plenty to do on canals from,mechanical,paintwork,manufacturing goods,the list goes on,what are your capabilities,there will be a demand if you have someting thats required,never keep all your eggs in one basket,you'll always have someting to fall back on!.......but getting known may take time,be patient.

It was really very interesting reading about this saga with an un named boat builder,or bodger,as I too had an,and am still having massive probs with my new sailaway,built for me by BOATS they made a real big hash of my narrowboat,with a list of 28 items at fault,from leaking integral tank,leaking skin tank,and poorly designed hull,not to mention the leak through the roof,which I only found out about last weekend when I tracked the source of the water on my bed! I do believe there should be stringent laws laid down,to prevent ,or at least to protect those of us who spend an awfull lot of money on an intended dream,and get ripped off.I have arranged to have a full survey done on the boat,which I need despite having a certificate of compliance,(so that I can take this company to court) which is worth nothing at all,I am preparing my case for the small claims court,as I have had to have outside boat builders come to rectify the shabby workmanship to my boat,BOATS refused to acknowledge my letters. I would welcome any suggestions to try to enforce this,any ideas? To prevent any possible implications to the site builders name removed.

Hi,it reads it el do 4 me (it willdo for me)???The extra o was just a way of expression,but deffinately not a negative.I was lucky to have had great memories of the 60's,and still do,thought it would be a bit novel to have the mem oribilia around the boat,never get bored with it,and always can add to it,littlec more ballast wont hurt either!.Take it easy.Marc

Deffinately not wallpaer,oh no, no,...does it look like wallpaper?.Well its painted actually,not a dash of varnish anywhere.ooops,the plank is varnished,I used 'seconds timber' to keep the costs down.
