thank you all for your replies and help
my wife phoned them on Tuesday armed with the information you all provided and spoke to the person she talked to last time. this person apologised for not phoning us last week and someone had been over to look at the boat, it was as they suspected that our boat was at fault and its electrolysis. my wife told them that they have the electrolysis all arse about face and the rust is most probably caused because of bad preparation or bad application of the blacking. she asked them is there someone who knows what they are talking about there and could she speak to them. after a couple of minutes the marina owner came on the phone and my wife explained the situation and what she had been told, she then enlightened him with her newly acquired knowledge. he apologised for what had happened and what she had been told and she was correct and the person she had spoke to had got it all wrong. he then waffled on about how many boats they have painted and we are the first one this has happened to. he then told my wife that he will contact the paint manufactures and personally go and look that the boat and get back to us ASAP.
he phoned back yesterday, he has been to look at the boat and he then phoned the paint manufactories whilst there they told him it is not the paint but the boat electrics. he then tested the outside boats hull with and without the mains line connected. he got a slight reading at the stern and nothing anywhere else and no change with the mains plugged in. he told my wife that possible the problem is the boat is not earthed or there is a problem with the earth. also the bow anodes are worn a lot that to look at the ones on the bow he would not think that they were new in april. he thinks the boat is acting like a big anode and being stripped of the paint and metal
i thought the earth was at the back of boats in the engine room is that why he got a slight reading with whatever tester thing he used, did he get a reading from the batteries 12v electric field. since april the mains has been plugged in for about24 hours in total so i don’t understand why he keeps going on about electrolysis. i am sure our boat is fitted with a galvanic isolator to cut down on corrosion wear on the hull and fittings. how can i check to see if isolator is working there is a good earth to the boat. what can i do to make them see that the most probable cause to the rust is that it was not painted proper in the first place, should i get a surveyor to have a look at our boat
