Lock 13 (Bath Top Lock), Kennet & Avon closed

A hire boat was caught up on the cill yesterday evening at Lock 13 (Bath Top Lock) on the Kennet & Avon Canal. We are arranging now for a crane to attend the site and recover the boat although currently I can't say whether that will be today or tomorrow morning. The boat has been pumped out and the pound below the lock drained.

That means there's no passage on this part of the K&A for the time being. The latest current anticipated time for the reopening of the canal will be Monday 13 August at lunchtime.

All occupants of the hire boat are fine, BTW.

Best wishes, Eugene

I get a daily update from Waterscape.com and it released the following at 1:15 p.m. today (Sunday 12/08/07):

The following stoppage has been revised:

Kennet & Avon Canal

Lock 13 - Bath Top Lock - Reopened

Date: 12/08/2007 until 12/08/2007

Description:

**UPDATE**

The incident has now been resolved in a shorter time than initially

estimated.

The canal and towpath have now reopened.

Hope this helps anyone monitoring this situation for passage purposes.
