Leeds Liverpool and WW2

Featured Posts

I am doing another new page on my website, this one is about the canal during WW2. Most of it is about the Western Command stop line number 14, the anti-invasion pills boxes etc along the canal.

Does anyone have any facts or stories about the canal during the war? I know it was breached by a bomb in Bootle. And it must have been in use during the war. I think it was then that the white markings on bridges were painted for use in the black out.

Any stories, facts, informations, book recommendations etc would be appreciated!

Hi Red.

There was a thread running last year loosly based on Pill Boxes though mainly on the upper Thames.

P.S. I did a bit of re-reading of the above only after I posted. You made a major contribution to it.
