Come friendly bombs, and fall on Slough, (the basin) isn’t fit for humans now..

So word is that the water point at the slough basin has been turned off by the CRT. They claim lack of use.

I would argue that if

A) if more were done re dredging then more would come down there

B ) where was the consultation

C) what cost is there to an under used tap?

I feel for those that do make the mission down the arm and worry that this trend for use it or loose it will rapidly spiral and lend itself to subjective opinions leading to perminant changes that effect boaters.

I am surprised by this development as the London Mooring Strategy talks about proposed new facilities at Slough Basin (elsan, pump out, refuse disposal) as part of the redevelopment around the basin.Given that the water point there is listed as an existing customer service facility at the very least there should have been a fuller explanation for it being turned off.Is it possible that there is another issue with this tap ,rather than simply lack of use ?

A fault in that it was not dredged and it was thought it was ?

I was commenting on the OP about the tap.  Here is some comment from CRT, from Facebook which also covers some other taps, on the Paddington arm.

Thanks for tagging me Jon and tweeting me, Roger. I'm not aware that this tap has been 'switched off'. Sounds a bit alarmist to suggest that. It's clearly not working so we have asked our contractors to investigate. As for other taps 'disappearing', most of these seem to be at third party sites where someone else was repsonsbile for supplying the water, e.g. Sainsbury's at Alperton and Kensal. The change in the water regulations a couple of years back meant people didn't want to be responsbile for supplying water if they could be held responsible for contamination. Hence, those suppliers took the taps away. The Trust wasn't responsble

I’m pretty sure that Bourgeois can be used as a noun or adjective, but happy to be corrected... unless it’s by the stinking bosses, they can do one... ;)

if the tap tap is out for maintainance that’s good and even better if it’s going to be joined by more facilities.

Maybe one day we can finish the job and link it to the Thames... good use of that big school playing field right?

I had wondered why he was picking on people from Bourges. (I know that people from Bourges are in fact called Berruyers, but that ruins the attempt at a joke).

I guess that is the problem with just following another statement and not referencing which post you are replying to

You are correct. Your use of "Bourgeois" as a collective noun is perfectly O.K.

I hope that, forum moddies don't count as "stinking bosses". I hope not - I had a quite thorough wash this morning,.

I stand corrected - as stated I'm clearly a "prol" but it still sounds better to me my way

I agree and in the spirit of socialism together we shall change it!

Ah, erm, well actually the guy who does the I’s is off sick and union rules mean that I can’t touch it....

:clapping:

As it stands, it means "exploitation at the hands of the middle-class woman". Doubtless you could suggest one or two names which would fit the bill!

It's not their fault... they often go To Maidenhead, and talk of sports and makes of cars in various bogus Tudor bars, and daren't look up and see the stars, but belch instead.

Seems a good night for the classics.  Thanks Wanted!
