Still not received an email. I sent one to the challenge email address, did you get that?

That's very strange, four accounts bounced and I don't know why. Yours isn't one of them and we haven't had an undeliverable message for you

The Talented Mr Hindle has updated his BCN Challenge planner:

http://www.webring.org/l/rd?ring=waterways;id=120;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecatwhowalksbyhimself.co.uk%2F

@Nine of Hearts

Richard

I have removed the pesky webring thing that used to fanny with the address bar causing annoyances like the above. I cannot remember why I included it in the first place, possibly because  I thought it was the thing to do. It's all so out of date now that I should maybe get rid of everything bar the planner!

Cheers, folks.

No, I can’t make it this year.

Had to cancel last year too.

But good luck with it. Hope it runs smoothly and you get a few more entrants.

Everyone. There are some notable boats missing, us for a start!

We sent out (another) bulk email some time ago based on the email addresses we got from John Carrington for previous years entries. A disappointingly large number bounced. In addition, the BCNS website doesn't show the challenge although their Facebook page does

So, if you know of other boats who are not aware of the challenge and can give them a nudge we would be very grateful

The points look a bit off to me, but maybe I'm not understanding the scoring correctly.

If I plan a route from Tame Valley Junction to Pudding Green Junction your calculator gives me 26.3 points

45' boat so 1.05 points per mile

Crew of three including steerer so 1.25 points per lock

2.5 miles x 1.05 = 2.625 points

8 locks x 1.25 = 10 points

12.625 x 2.5 bonus = 31.5625 points

Am I counting something incorrectly?

@Nine of Hearts

I make it 35 using the calculator. Newton junction, Ocker Hill, up Ryder's Green to Pudding Green - right?

What settings are you using please Richard?

I can't get the calculator to score 35 points on that single leg with any combination I have tried - I can get over 50 points by singlehanding a 70' pair, but I can't find any combo that gives 35

Ah.  Different trip!

I only used the second leg of that as a single stage journey example, so you are doing an extra 3.5 miles on another bonus section.

6 miles x 1.05 = 6.3 points

8 locks x 1.25 = 10 points

16.3 x 2.5 bonus = 40.75 points

Am I applying the points wrongly?

You could start at Fazeley Junction this year and go for a big score as that would be at least 15miles and 38 locks.

This is just for Tame Valley Junction to Pudding Green Junction?  If that is the case it is 2.5 miles and 8 locks on a 2.5 multiplier
