Electrical YouTube videos

Featured Posts

Been watching a few electrical type Youtube videos of late, here's my favourite channels..

ElectroBOOM -  https://www.youtube.com/user/msadaghd

Quite amusing educational videos - if physics teachers were more like this more kids would pay attention in class!   Good for basic electrics.

BigCliveDotCom - https://www.youtube.com/user/bigclivedotcom

More into taking apart cheap Chinese junk to see how they are put together and how.  Good if you want to get into electronics or you just like taking apart stuff.

John Ward - https://www.youtube.com/user/jjward/

Covers same areas as BigCliveDotCom, just different.

Anyone got anything else to recommend.

GreatScott!https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6mIxFTvXkWQVEHPsEdflzQ

Short and to the point videos on building simple electronics projects

Julian Iletthttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmHvGf00GDuPYG9DZqQKd9A

Postbag of cheap stuff from China, and building small projects

Mikes Electrical Stuffhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcs0ZkP_as4PpHDhFcmCHyA

Takes stuff apart but I've no idea how he manages to get airport x-ray machines and fight recorder boxes...

BONUS CHANNEL:

Techmoanhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5I2hjZYiW9gZPVkvzM8_Cw

This guy manages to find the most bizarre and obscure audio/video formats. Video on an LP format anyone?

Just discovered ElectroBOOM this evening when he popped up in my youtube suggestions. I was going to start a new thread but did a search and found that he's been mentioned before. I've been binge watching for a few hours. He's quite mad and apparently still alive, somehow! Here's the first one I watched. His video on AC and DC current might appeal to boaty types too:

There are also a lot of videos on repairs to white goods. Just search for the relevant machine.  We recently changed a seal on my son’s washing machine.  It was Polish, so didn’t understand a word , but still very helpful.

Ditto - diagnosed then changed the water solenoid valve in our 15 year old home washing machine, with the help of a couple of YouTube videos)😊

About £50 delivered but delayed cost of a new machine (and contributing to landfill with at least some parts of it).

Our washing machine threw up an odd fault code and didn’t empty. I phoned a local repair guy who quoted £50 call out charge and £45 for a new pump if required. The gem was though that he informed me that the fault code simply meant it couldn’t empty in the allotted time (hence his quote for a new pump). I checked on Google and I could buy a new pump for £15 delivered so figured I’d take a look myself. Once I removed the back panel no tools were required - everything was clipped together. I removed the pump, removed the wood screw that was jamming the impeller, and put it all back together. About 20 minutes work and zero cost.

Didn’t know they used woodscrews to assemble bras.

My missus doesn’t wear one so that’s one problem we don’t have ;)  However, it did happen to a previous washing machine when Mrs 36DD from next door borrowed it...

I forgot to add that with help from several of the Honda generator service videos, I’ve just replaced the carburettor on a very old Kipor Generator that we inherited with the boat and kept for emergency only use.

It ran very poorly and leaked petrol, so totally unusable.

Cleaning jets etc seemed like a lot of faffing about, so £42 inc vat delivered in 2 days for a new carburettor complete with stepper motor and new fuel lines and thanks to YouTube, the newley acquired confidence to have a go.

Once the new carb primed, it started easily and now runs beautifully with no leaks😊

Tank and carburettor now drained and genny stowed away, hopefully to remain forever dormant😏

He could at least have remembered what shirt he was wearing in the first part of the video.

I think it was meant to be a burnt shirt.
