You should leave the bottom vent of the squirell stove open a bit more overnight when the weather is cold, this will stop you freezing innitt!!

From previous pics, Greyladyx doesn't have a squirrel, and lets her stove go out when unattended due to proximity to surrounding wood concerns.

I learned that one several years before I bought a boat.

Reverting back to house ownership may be impossible if the boat amounts to most of the assets available.

Rayburn at the boat will be freezin cold! So if I wanted I could light the bubble stove, that runs on Kero/diesel and runs the central heating at same time and is ot fast! whilst Rayburn builds up some heat [not long nowdays with that bigger backboiler toasty] Or if it was really cold I cold fire up the whispergen which runs central heating makes lecce at same time! I aint bragging but some ladies in my life aint liked being cold so it was multi systems or loneliness! so I spent the dosh on keeping them warm, works for me??

Woke up in bed. Been up a while, house smells OK because when I flush the loo it all just goes away like magic and is not my problem. Thames Water do something with it somewhere. I don't need batteries, I buy as much power as I want from EDF.

It's freeeeezin and the dog won't let me in the bedroom.

It's warm, my gas central heating works. If it goes wrong, I have a service contract. I phone some nice people in Orpington and they send someone to fix it.

I have no dog.

No thanks.

Cough cough white smoke

Better give up smoking, or at least consider switching to another brand if smoke is coming out white.

I agree. I'll stick to crewing for other people.

 Choking on white diesel fog.

Oh I see. Not good.

Tick tick tick tick

I hear that too. It's coming from the family heirloom, a very old clock.

Are you sure its a battery shop? The corpse in the captains chair could be a chicken ready to be cooked? Maybe we are looking for some battery hens in Thetford? Duck!!!

Sounds as though you're losing the faith!

70k will no doubt buy a really nice boat with everything in good order, but, for those of us with shallow pockets [like the canals] then a cheaper, older boat is what we have to live with.

Get a decent stove, fit a new fuel filter, check for water/crap in the fuel, and bleed properly, have the dog put down and get one that will let you into the bedroom, empty your toilet and get a pest controller to check for death watch beetle in your cupboards,[tick, tick tick]

I'm sure your enthusiasm for boating will return.
