magictime
I know this is two music-related posts from me in one week, but I actually did see three kingfishers while out cruising today (NB these were actual birds, not boats by that name). So... you're welcome.

magictime
Between Silsden and Kildwick on the L&L. (We see a lot round here; whoever it was that mentioned seeing 10 in 40 years of boating in a recent thread clearly hasn't spent much time up north! But three in three hours or so is exceptional.) Ex Brummie
Bringing my boat back from the boatyard after survey 2 weeks ago, I had one accompany me for a mile or so. I suppose it was happy to see if I disturbed any food in the very cold water.
The Bearwood Boster
It's very odd,but under the M5 in Oldbury. has always been a great Kingfisher spotting place.?
Drayke
There seems to be quite a few here on the K&A . I saw 4 Kingfisher the other day when travelling from Honeystreet to Devizes.

Rebotco
On the West K&A we have seen just one Kingfisher this year. Thought "the beast from the east" must have killed them off. Usually see a dozen or more most years. Or maybe its just the same one we see a dozen times!

Murflynn
when I was cruising on the Thames near Lechlade last summer a kingfisher landed on my boat just in front of my steering position and regarded me with interest for about 5 minutes........ it finally came to the conclusion that I wasn't edible, and that it had taken sufficient advantage with a free ride, and it flew off. made my day.
Proper Charlie
Moored near Watford recently, I heard a kingfisher’s unmissable call, very loud too. Opened the stern doors to see a flash of blue as it left the rail around the back of our cruiser stern. Looking up, I saw the bird in a tree a few yards away, with a fish in its beak. Wonderful to see.
MHS
Nantwich to Chester has a very healthy kingfisher population. Saw over 20 in one week at the start of December. This photo was taken on my iPhone, just south of Nantwich aqueduct in November.
Jim Riley
Seems like it's halcyon days all round.
Athy
Remarkably, though we live beside a river we have never seen a kingfisher here in 11 years, though there have been local reports of them Last week we saw a heron in the centre of Upwell, first one in 11 years. I seem to remember that Kingfisher was the most popular name on the Canal Junction website records.
